What is everyone up to today?

I'm remembering why I had to start wearing maternity clothes so early last time. It is because I can't stand anything pressing on my stomach. I think if I can switch to maternity underwear I'll be good for awhile.

Julia has been sick so we are staying home today. She was up a ton last night so I'm thinking she might be a little crabby today. My nephew tends to pick on her a little more when she isn't feeling well, so today should be interesting.

I hope you get through the day!

I woke up at 3am too queasy to go back to sleep. I moved to the couch and munched on crackers for a bit trying to imagine my nauseua melt away. It worked well enough for me to get back to sleep.

I have my midwife appointment today. Nothing medical/checkup-like, just a meeting to answer questions and get a general sense if there's a good fit.

i woke up at 4, just awake, feeling fine so I went out to watch some TV and ended up dozing another hour or so. Now I am trying to get dd down for a nap so we can go run some errands this afternoon....sometimes she fights it SO much....

hope Julia feels better soon, i had my share of sick baby the past 2 months...its no fun!!

Wendy- good luck with the midwife....i hope it is a good fit for you (or at least that its obvious in one direction or another!) let us know how it goes.

I think we have a winner!

The midwives work in teams, and we'll meet with both of them for all the prenatals and both will come to the birth.

I came with a long page worth of questions and talked through them and Phil asked his two (safety and mess). They both picked up that I don't just want to know the answer to a question, I want to know the reason behind it. After asking for more details twice, they both started answering things with more information about the biology/legality/etc in their answer.

I am a tad concerned about my water breaking before the baby is ready. Dd came after my water broke at 38 weeks -- full term and full size, but I don't think she was quite ready to come at that point. The recommended I take vit C with flavanoids to help strengthen the membranes. I think that's easy enough to do.

They seemed a tad dubious about additional B vits for morning sickness, but pointed out that there's no harm in taking additional vits because they're water soluble (hard to OD). Some of their clients have good luck with pregnancy tea, though. I might head over to Wild Oats and get some of that when I get a B-vit supplement.

Just a quick note on the vitamin B-6, Wendy - it's generally believed that taking over 100mg per day can be neurotoxic, so try to stick with 50 if you can.

I'm so glad that they worked out for you. I love my midwives SO much...they know all my little quirks and know how to calm me and make me feel at ease....we nurses are TERRIBLE patients....but they always know what to do for me...everyone deserves to have the people who are with them during labor respect and care for them....I'm so glad you found that!
