Scrapbooking Thread!! - Page 6

Hello again. ladies!

I have a "scrap area" in our attic. Its just a small table and some shelves. Its a great space, but I am quickly outgrowing it! I need to figure out some new storage fast! I also go to my LSS all the time...lately its been at least once a week (keep in mind, I don't have kids yet!) because of projects I was working on for other people combined with REALLY hot weather...I had to go work in the AC.

I love this thread!

Wow~you ladies are brave, scrapping at home :LOL That is really cool, though. I think I will be able to do that when my kids are a little older.

Chris~I think you will have a lot of fun! The CM rep here does not mind having SU ppl bring their stuff to work with as long as you do not solicit. Let us know how it was!

This is soo fun! I've lost touch w/ all of my scrappin' pals since we've moved so much! Now I can catch up w/ some online mamas! I'm on a roll right now..I've dug out my supplies and just sent a *ton* of pics to get printed so I can start on '05. Hopefully I'll stay caught up w/ it and then can fill in '04 nad the kids books as I go along!

Anyone want to do a scrapbooking page swap??
I was thinking we could make either 6x6 or 8 1/2 x 11 pages. That way for those who do 12x12 can just add to it to fit pages.
What do you think?? I'd be glad to host it.

My life is hectic too, but it generally makes my day to receive a swap, although I ALWAYS stress about sending out my end of the swap :LOL

My crop went well tonight. I only got 4 pages done in about 3 1/2 hrs, but it was a blast and now I have a CM customer interested in stamps. :LOL I PURPOSELY brought alphabet stamps because I *heard* from other SU demos that customers of other companies can't resist Alphabet stamps..lol

Hi,
Just wanted to stop in and join this thread. I have been scrapbooking for several years and for a short time was a CM consultant. I would love to be a consultant again, if only for the discounts, samples, ideas, etc. but right now I am so busy between kids, homeschooling, and work.

I just moved all my scrapbooking stuff to my own area on our 3rd floor. our tenant moved out and we decided to convert the apartment into offices, school area, and I will take the dining room area for scrapbooking.

I also just finished doing all my kids "shadow boxes" with stuff from when they were born. The first one took a bit to finish, but by the 4th, I could do it in 20 minutes! Now about those baby books...

I would love to see pages from others and ideas for books, journaling, etc. I tend to be the kind of person who likes quick and easy, don't have much patience for lots of cutting andmeasuring! :LOL

So behind!

Or at least i feel like it. My son's scrapbook is so chunky... a month of stuff here, and another month there. So much is missing, I feel like I've lost so many of the stories.
It's all so hard to keep up with, isn't it? Expecially with the little monster constantly terrorizing me and my crafting space!
It probably doesn't help that I have started sewing, and began crochetting again :P

I did up a page for the first time in months on Thursday. It is adorable! It's my son's first trip to the beach. I must say I've done a wonderful job

I finally caught up with dd's first year book, so I've decided to make my best friend's dd a 1st year book for her birthday in about a month. I thought it would be a great gift for both daughter and parents, since they haven't been keeping one....but, what a big task for one month!!!!

Joining in on this thread really late... I started scrapping about 3yrs. ago and I'm going to be having a CM party later this month. At one point I was caught up, but we moved over a year ago, then ds2 was born and I haven't had much time to get back into it though I've been trying more and more lately. I'm up to when ds2 was about 3/4mos. now.

I have a desk set up in an upstairs bedroom that we mainly use for clothes storage. I'm so glad to finally have my own little space now that we have a house so I don't have to always put everything away and get it out each time. I need to get some sort of organizer/shelving to go next to my desk to keep some of my supplies so that I can have more space to work.

Question about ribbon

Hi!
Can anyone give me some hints about using ribbon? I guess I've been afraid to, probably for no good reason. I just wasn't sure about the whole acid-free thing. Can any ribbon be used, or does it have to be something special so it doesn't break down or damage the photos and paper? Any other tips or great ideas for using ribbon would be appreciated too.

I use ribbon on my pages...I usually don't have it touch my photos anyway, so no worries about it being acid free. If you want to be super careful and use it where it touched a photo you could always tuck a copy of the photo behind the layout (or put it into an acid free envelope at the end of the album)...just in case you'd run into problems with the photo fading etc. in a couple of years. In that case a replacement photo would be right there.

I'm joining this thread pretty late - I'm a scrapbooker, but I'm relatively new to it. I'm having fun, and my (much more experienced) friends tell me that my pages are good, so I'm happy My pages tend to be 'plain' - I'm not a frilly, fussy type of person, so I don't like too many bits and pieces attached to the pages. They're not crowded, so I think other people might think they're boring or bare, but I guess that's just my style?

I've found that Micheals carries little tiny bobbins of ribbon. I believe they are acid-free. I'll check for you a little later tonight, I have got a little boy napping on my lap :P

Ok, it doesn't say if the Ribbon Bobbins are acid free, but it does note on the bobbin that they are expecially for cardmaking and scrapbooking. So they are *probably* Acid free

Thanks for checking on that ribbon for me.

I wonder if all ribbon, thread, and fabric might be acid-free. Does anyone know if there is any way to check for acid on a particular item?

I have no idea about checking acidity level ... I'm having vague recollections of chemistry from high school, but considering how little attention I paid, it's no wonder I can't remember!

I'm having trouble journaling. I'm fine writing essays or articles for other people to read. I'm find writing in my diary - personal thoughts for me to read. But I think I'm having trouble writing about personal stuff for other people to read. I know all about the who, what, where, why when etc ... but I'm having trouble - I can't put my finger on the exact thing which is bugging me though. Any tips or ideas?
