Scrapbooking Thread!! - Page 3

GLM, my 3 yo also LOVES to stamp with all of my stuff! He actually has some stamps and ink pads of his own, but I've been helping him use mine to make cards for family and friends. He's so cute! He'll say, "Mom, let's go stamp up!"

You guys are getting me really excited about scrapbooking, too! Now that DH is home, maybe he'll get my computer on the network and I can print my pics.

I haven't gotten any stamping done today. I had a NST with my midwife and its a dreary day and I'm exhausted, so my 3 yo is drawing with chalk right now...lol
I just got in a pretty big order and need to get some pages done to fill my new album that came in today. Last night I got one page done from last fall at the pumpkin patch and want to do another coordinating one too.
I need to try out a new "aged" technique on some cards that someone emailed me from my upline's yahoogroup, but it'll be messy so I want to try to wait til the kids are settled with an activity or in bed for the night..lol

I have some pictures I need to get printed from DD's first communion and from my 5 yo's birthday party so I can get working on them.

So much to do, so little time!!

Here is a newbie question :

Do you put your pictures ontop of the cardstock or use frames around your pictures? Which do you like best? How many pictures look best to a page?

TIA.
I put the pictures on top of the cardstock and leave a little edge. I don't have any of my stuff online or I'd show you.
For a 6x6 page, I use 1 picture, or two if I crop them. For an 8 1/2 x 11 page, I generally use 2 4x6 pictures with just a little cut off if necessary because that leaves space for embellishments and journalling.
For a 12 x 12, usually 3 pictures of different sizes max so it doesn't look too busy. On occasion, like for ds's bday, I'll cut pics into stars or balloon shapes and you can put a few more, then I'll cut cardstock a little bigger as the "frame".

I think that this thread is going to be where most, if not all of my new posts go. Think we could get a scrapbooking and cardmaking forum??? LOL :LOL Or are there not enough of us that admit to the addiction

Just want to say hello I have been telling people for the last year that Scrapbooking is my "next" hobby In other words, when I get myself organized and have money.

However, we gave my dd age 6, a kids scrapbook kit this past Christmas and that's been wonderful It came with enough stuff to make 6 pages, but we have made several more than that, whenever she expresses interest in her book and a topic we go with it. Right now we are making a ballet page and a Halloween page. She picks the pictures and controls all the design decisions But I get to work with her and get really good practice for my own scrapbooking I hope to be able to afford one day Who would've thunk a kid's toy could be so much fun We've added discounted embelleshisments, more pages, etc. to the original.

We have so many pictures, it is daunting to even think of where to begin, but working with dd's book has made it seem much more doable Even for a procrastinator, LOL! :LOL And i just love the concept of preserving our memories in such a wonderful way for my children

My twin sister has plans for us to make a beautiful scrapbook for my Mom's 70th bday this October and has purchased a whole ton of supplies but so far we have not had a "scrapbooking meet", hopefully we will be able to soon. At least before the bday, LOL! :LOL

Anyway, I enjoyed looking at your scrapbooks and am going to hang out here and hope to see more

See ya!!

Well, I think its a matter of preference. The 12x12 is great because you can do some really awesome double page spreads, but I personally prefer the 8 1/2 x 11 because it fits better on my bookcases, although that sounds like a silly reason.

There is also a 6x6 (or 7x7, depending on the company) that is a brag book size. I have one for each of the kids that we add pics to so they can take and show their friends.

Well, I just PM'd LaLa, the mod here. I've also seen requests for forums and such in the Q&A area, but that might be for broader subjects. Hopefully she'll set one up for us!

Like GLM, it is a personal preference. The 12x12 is nice because on the size, you can fit more pics per page and hence, it holds more. The 8 1/2x11 is nice too, though, cause you have so much more paper selection. You can cut the 12x12 paper down so that it fits into it. I use the 12x12 cause I like the size.

I have done 6x6 albums last year for the dc's grandmothers for Mother's Day. I have also done a 6x6 album for the time dh and I had together *before kids* (not that much time, which is why it was 6x6 :LOL). I like working in that size, I feel like I accomplish more; those were the only albums I have completed so far.

Ooo, I will PM LaLa too, that would be really cool!

Well I went to a crop night last night. I did not get much done but I found a lot more that I want to get . There is another one tonight and I think I might go to it and actually get some pages done!

I really like the 12 X 12. It is all I have ever used. My dh's hobby is taking pictures (He owns a camera/photo developing store) so we have so many pictures. I have to use the big ones to get all the pictures I want in.
I would say I use a max of 4 pictures per page. When I started I never put pictures on card stock first, but now I dont like my pages unless I do. I just went to the local scrapbook store today to get some stuff for me to work on this week. I just got a gift card from there for my birthday, so I am looking forward to spending it next week.

I started scrapbooking about 2 years ago and really enjoy it. So far I've completed an album for our honeymoon and am working on my dd's scrapbook (still have my son's to do too). Last Christmas I used my scrapbooking material to make them both little books about them, which they *loved.* I also just made my sil a birthday gift of a pre-decorated scrapbook to put her new baby's pictures in. Happy scrapping, everyone.

I am doing a scrapbook for the first time. It's for my mil. It started out being of just my 3 kids, then it changed to include her other 3 grandkids. Now its'all the grandkids and her kids. A total of 9 people. I have no idea where to start or what layouts to do. I desperately need help. If anyone could help, I would be so greatful. I bought a kit, but am totally clueless. :

The best way for me to approach this is to have album themes, I think. I want to do albums for the following...

*my family of origin (my parents are deceased, I would like to make a nice album). I am the fourth child, so I don't have a ton of pictures, but more as I got older and started taking my own.

*Dd's baby pictures and littlest girl pictures (SO many adorable pictures )

*Ds's baby pictures

*Our vacation(s) last year.

*Our beach vacation coming up!

So far, I have one kit, a scrapbook with coodinating paper and some beach stickers.

I do all of ours combined. I do them chronologically in the album, but don't actually scrap the pages in order. I just insert them where they need to go as I finish them. :LOL Its easier for me.
I have 4 kids and we'll probably have more. I figure though, in the coming years, as digital scrapbooking becomes more and more popular, each of the kids can have a copy of the scrapbooks made, instead of me getting 4 copies of every picture I take, plus extras for grandparents, etc

LaLa said she'd look into a new forum for us. I guess it depends on how much activity there is on the topic... so get to posting! :LOL
