Ds showers with either me or dh every morning. He hates to be left outside the shower when we're inside It's more fun time than anything.

We ditched the nighttime baths (we were trying for a "bedtime routine" that never really took off) because it didn't soothe him--it energized him. Not a big help in nestling down to sleep

My 8 yr old hates baths. My 10 yr old tolerates them for washing, but loves them for playing. My 3 yr old plays everyday at some point in the tub, but doesn't get a complete soap washing each time. I find a bath at about 4 pm refreshes my 3 yr old and helps her get through dinner and early evening without a and crankiness. She is ready for a nursing and falls aleeps in after just 'one side' at around 7. I think a bath can be an emotional renewal for her. I rarely think of baths as a way of keeping clean. lol My 13 yr old likes to shower almost every morning.

we do a bath every day because dd insists upon it!!! if dh and i are taking too long to finish dinner (since dd is always done before we are), she gets impatient and starts pulling at dh's sleeve and pointing down the hall to the bathroom.... she LOVES baths, and would probably spend a couple of hours in the tub if it didn't get cold...

We do a bath every night as part of our bedtime routine. It helps wind ds down a little, and he has a little routine with dh for toweling off and putting on pj's.

I don't wash his hair every night, and don't always soap him up, either. It depends on the day and how messy he gets, but ds loves to swish his hands throught the water.

Wow, the idea of bathing a child daily is pretty crazy to me. We feel proud when we manage to bathe DD once or twice a week, usually only once. She gets hands, face, feet, and bottom cleaned daily. I guess it helps that she has very little hair, even at 22 months, so it doesn't get too dirty and food can be easily wiped out.

I'm interested to read about the allergy stuff, because I have allergies to just about everything. We use pretty non-allergenic products for her bath, but I wonder if my instinct is helping to preserve DD from having such bad allergies by not feeling I need to bathe her every day. That sounds far better than just being too lazy, huh?
