Anyone exercising???

Ok, I am starting to feel pretty ok but also really lazy so I am going back to my aerobic kickboxing class tomorrow. I have been going since Sept. and I really notice a difference now that I am doing nothing for exercise. Just wondered what everyone else is doing?

Does chasing my toddler in the park count? I need to start walking and doing yoga again, but I typically did yoga in the a.m., and I've been too sick.

Well, I ride my bike to work every day. That's 6 miles round trip. Up until last Saturday, I was running 5 miles every other day. I started to go running on Monday.... Big Mistake.

I'm hoping I can get through the worst of this in another few weeks so I can go running again. I miss my zone-out time.

I don't think I'm going to have time for a prenatal yoga class this time. I'm looking for tapes. I should try the library first.

I also have a series of exercises I have from the PT after I dislocated my SI joint in my last pg. I've been trying to do those, but I find half of them really bother my stomach muscles. When I mentioned that to the midwives on Tuesday they seemed really surprised. I guess for now I'll stick with the stuff that doesn't hurt.

I started my prenatal yoga tape today, and I'm going to call the pool regarding aquafit. I have physical disabilities and chronic pain, and it's very important for me to stay flexible. I have a limited choice of things I am able to do without making things worse, or causing a lot of pain, and I need to stay fit for the marathon of pregnancy and birth.

I'm not doing much now, except a lot of walking. I'm too tired. And I live in a basement where the ceilings are too low to stretch my arms up over my head, so no yoga (there really isn't room anyway)! In 2 weeks dh and I are moving into a new building though! Enough space for yoga and a pool! I think I will get a lot of use out of the pool this summer. Unfortunately it's outside though, so it will be an ice rink by the time I'm 7-8 months.

I've been walking. It is hard because I need to walk in the morning because I have NO energy by the end of the day. So if I don't walk early, it doesn't get done.

I have some prenatal yoga and pilates videos coming from netflix that I'm going to try out.

I'm glad I'm not the only tired one!! Wendy, I can't even imagine bike riding or running now but I guess it's all what you are used to doing. I hope that by just going to class I will start to feel better though. Anything I should avoid?? They have a heart rate monitor there that I will use (liability and for my own peace of mind) but other than that I guess I will just see how it goes. I guess they have had other pregnant mamas there before. I am hoping to get through til September (I paid for the year !!) and then just walk or do some prenatal yoga (I have a tape here). Considering I did NO exercise with both girls I am hoping not to gain as much this time -- just enough for a healthy baby.

I am doing NOTHING!!! i used to rollerblade ALL th etime, but havne't gotten into any routine since dd and I feel so EXHAUSTED, i guess if i tried to do more I would have more energy. I did do a prenatal yoga class w/ dd and I am going to try to do it again when I can. Its just nice to be with the other mommas, everyone goes around the circle and shares in the beginning....ahhhh, I relax just thinking about it!

I've been having a hard time with exhaustion too, but mostly mine is in the morning. I was doing quite a bit of exercise before pregnancy and then it just stopped with the fatigue. But yesterday I dug out my old prenatal yoga tape and started it, its nice because I didn't find it too tiring. Im a pilates junkie so I am going to purchase a prenatal pilates video once I decide which one to get. I'd love to hear your reviews jen.

I'm still riding my bike about 3 miles a day and walking about another 3, but nothing more than that.

Jen, what a great idea to get a prenatal yoga DVD from Netflix. Please let us know if you liked it!

I am absolutely exhausted from morning to night myself. I am a runner, and my running buddies are great. They notice that I have slowed down quite a bit, but they still call me and get me out about 3 times a week. It has been the best thing. All morning I feel like crap and I want to use every excuse under the sun, but then I get out. The runs are OK, just slower than I was just a few weeks ago : . BUT Ladies, after my run I actually feel normal for an hour or two!!!! I can get things done, eat a good healthy lunch, pick my girls up from school and go to the park. Then I get back into crap mode again. But those 2 hours are worth it!!!!!!

I'm just bummed because I trained real hard this winter to do some serious racing this year and then - boom - out of the blue I'm carrying a new baby....completely unplanned and unexpected. Oh welll, but this is the biggest phsychological hurdle I have right now. To go from really excelling to - eeeerrrrrrrk - running like a beginner.

What keeps me going is the hopes that all this tired, nausea etc will pass and I will have fun again, and to know that the better shape I am in, the better I can handle birthing.....

Oh and is everyone eating like a piggie????? I am !!!!!! CAn't stop! try to make all healthy choices but can't drive by a DQ without stopping.

This is the first one I am getting:

Leisa Hart's Fitmama http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...s=dvd&n=507846

Rocki's Prenatal Yoga Vol 1: Introduction
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...962662-1648101

(there is also a vol 2 and 3 to this which are titled labor preparation)

I'd really like to find several videos I like that I can do throughout my pregnancy. I think the pilates and the yoga are going to be really helpful to prepare for labor.

I'm totally out of my routine. I used to go to the gym 3x a week for cardio and weights, and haven't in weeks. I just feel like crap all the time. I do walk a lot (around campus, for work) and DH and I have been able to go hiking on the weekends for the past couple of weeks, but after about 2 miles, I am worn out. My stamina is really low. I'm not sure if I should try to push myself, or just listen to my bod and take it easy for the time being. Most people say that you feel better in the second trimester, so I will start back into something then.

I am getting in about 4 days a week..maybe 5.

We have an ellipitcal and total gym at home so that it much easier. We also live in a sub that has a really nice mile loop so we try to get out and walk it daily with our son.

I am making it a point to exercise way more in this pregnancy than I did with the first.

Hey Jen, have a review for us? Im just perking back up and am ready to get back exercising so Im wondering how the Fitmama tape is and also if you get any pilates tapes.

Thanks!

Eeek, I just got invited to play on a volleyball team. I miss volleyball soooooo much. I miss it. I miss it. I miss it.

I play setter, and this sounds like a casual enough league to just announce I won't jump. Sounds good, right?

Now I just need to find the energy to walk up the stairs to go to bed.

i'm going to get some prenatal yoga vids (i'd like to get them from the library to see if i like them first, but i'm having... troubles... with the library... :LOL ) and i want to start walking more with the monkey once the weather FINALLY improves again-- it's been cold and rainy or snowy here for a week! it's MAY, people!!
i also work 3-4 days a week and run after a toddler almost all the rest of the time, so i think that counts!

i'm making myself walk with my parents -- about 3 hilly miles -- 5 days a week. pushing a stroller and its a good workout.

but does anyone have any suggestions for a problem i had last pregnancy and am already noticing this time... i lay down to nurse my 2y.o. to nap and bed and i feel so full from eating and yucky and sleepy and invariably i fall asleep with that full stomach and all those calories going nowhere. i think that's why i gained 50 pds last pregnancy (only 24 first time -- i was working fulltime in a highly active job and not able to nap)

hate that we eat so close to sleeptime, but that's us, last minute everything. anyhow, any thoughts? anyone else going through this? (and yes blueskyblue, i'm with you on the eat, eat, eat thing... luckily sugary stuff isn't sounding so great, so it's mostly good food going in, but in really large quantities -- so sorry to those still barfy!)
