I am experiencing shortness of breath. I was wondering if anyone else was as well? I will do something that I do normally and all of the sudden be breathing heavy. I took a walk with Ds to the store last night and was panting by the time we got there. That defiantely isn't normal for me. I remember having this a little with Ds, but not until much later in my pregnancy. So anyone else?

I'm finding that I really struggle to climb a flight of stairs, particularly if I'm carrying something. I can do most of my usual routine, including riding my bike to and from work, but somehow stairs just sap my energy.
It's not exactly as you described, but I think it's just part of how our bodies are now working really, really hard with very little extra to give.

Stairs are a little hard for me, too. I work on the 4th floor in a building with no elevator, so I have a lot of stairs to climb. I used to be able to run up all 4 flights, but the last week or so I've had to slow down a lot on them, and I'm a short of breath when I get to my office.

Yeah me too. I've also noticed along with the shortness of breath that my resting heart rate has also increased. Prior to preg it was ~58bpm and now it is 70bpm. Still healthy number, but much higher for me and I feel that I am always breathing a bit heavier even without the stairs. Workouts are also more difficult. It stinks!

I had this w/ my first. It lasted the entire first trimester and was similar to having excercise induced asthma. Something as little as walking up the steps here at home and I would have to stop halfway to breathe.
My midwives explained it as my hormones sending wacky signals to my brain. Once I excerted myself they would notify my brain that I wasn't getting enough oxygen (even though I was) and then I would start huffing and puffing. It sort of felt like there was an elephant on my chest and I couldn't get the air in.
The midwives assured me that it was a "normal" occurance... on that long laundry list of things that could happen during pregnancy.
It was gone by the end of the first trimester THANK GOD!
Actually, the breathing thing started before I even knew I was pregnant. I was having a really hard time on the trolley stairs on my way to work... when I mentioned it to dh he accused me of being out of shape... then the next week we tested ++. He felt bad for making fun of me then! :-)

I was just checking in and seeing what you all are up to and I red this thred. I went to the doc for the same complaint.
When I go up the stairs especially with a load of clothes or something I am breathing so hard. I find it hard to exersise and even go for a walk. It seems to get a little better as the day goes on. They did the halter monitor on me for 24 hrs and that sucked!!! Nothing wrong there! The doc pretty much said that it was all in my head and to continue to exersise.
: I am sooooooo so glad to see you all here have the same prob. I knew something was going on! I am a fut person and a flight of stairs never got me down before.
I have seen a little improvement. I am 12 weeks and hope it will fade soon!
Mommy to homeschooled Lindy(5) and cloth diapered Noah(2). One due Oct 31st!

Me too! I think it is also related to the fact that we are producing so much more blood now; it is more work to move it all around.

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one but I get out of breath just talking. I'm a teacher so this is a problem.
