DH are are going on a major spree tomorrow at borders. They have a semi annual weekend where they give teachers 25% off almost evreyhting in the store and we usually go crazy. I am hoping to get some good suggestions for my 2 year old. We already have TONS of board books so maybe the next step beyond that as well as music (or even dvd's)

I am going to x-post this in toddlers moderators if this is not OK please feel free to remove whichever you think should be deleted.

A few of DD's favorite books when she was around two:

Blueberries for Sal
Make Way for Ducklings both by Robert McCloskey

Sun Bread by Elisa Kleven

The Bunny Planet
MacDuff ( both are series by Rosemary Welles, MacDuff is a little white dog)

Little Bear books Else Holmlund Minarik (not entirely sure of her last name...)

Books by Jan Brett

I'll go up and look at our shelves and try to post some more later... Have a great time!

Oooo, I'm jealous! Here are some of our favorites:

Music:

The Classical Child at the Opera by Metromusic. I have never been a big opera fan, but I looove this CD. It's energetic and the music and singing is wonderful. I also love that my 4 year old sings along.

Mister Rogers' CDs. I know some find Mr. Rogers too ...well, Mr. Rogery, but there is something very soothing about him. His cds have saved our bacon on a couple of rough afternoons!

Putumayo has lots of great cds. We have a lullabye one we like a lot.

Books: ooooh, so many, so little time....

Big Mama Makes the World by Phyllis Root
books by Elsa Beskow
books by Sandra Boynton
books by Eric Carle

Opps, the baby is waking up...have fun!

Harper Collins has a board book series called "Harper Collins Growing Tree". I would recommend just about any book in that series. For music we love John McCutcheon and Tom Chapin- great for kids, and it doesn't make the grown ups want to throw up.

For music we like:
Lisa Loeb- Catch the Moon
Sesame street: bathtime songs or bathtime favorites? has ernie on the cover
The sound of music: original recording w/ Julie Andrews

I also agree w/ the Eric Carle recommendation, he has so many wonderful books & SUCH a unique art style

Dr. Suess: There's a Wocket in my pocket
