Government Mulch Piles!

Okay so, the other day I am passing this huge pile of mulch on the side of the road and some people are there with buckets and I'm like " well ,that's nice if you don't get caught!" and then yesterday me and DH pass there and he says "oh free mulch" and there are people with their trucks and shovels just loading it in. So i ask him "is this for real?" and he says "yeah, its government cast-offs". So we go get our shovel and when we drive down there I see a sign that simply says "Free Mulch. Government Property. No Dumping." We got a whole truckload of mulch for FREE. I estimate that we got about 30-50 dollars worth just for the labor of shoveling it in.

Moral of the story: Check with your local gov't to see if they have free mulch or a composting area. $$$$$ saved!!!!!!

That's pretty cool! My mom gets free dirt from the cemetary! :LOL
Our health food stores give away their rotten OG produce for composting (of course it's not as good as already composted, but still good extras, or good free food for goats, chickens, pigs, etc.)
Anyhow, I wonder if another free source for mulch would be like a tree removal company? Not sure about that one

Nah, they sell it - it's a major part of their businesses. They also sell firewood from trees they cut down that are salvagable.
