making a lovey?

hi all! i'd like to make a lovey for ds. he's 3 mo. so i'm thinking of making him a lovey with a little shape or something on top. Did that make sense? Anyone here know how to make these? i at first was just going to make a little blankie, but am thinking that a little shape on top might be better since he loves to chew on everything! Any tips on how to make one of these would really be appriciated! like how to go about forming it. thanks in advance!

Are you thinking like a knot doll or animal blankie? Or just a small blankie-type thing with a chew-toy on top?

i guess all of them sound right either something with a doll or animal head or just something to chew on on top

What about a taggie blanket? Sew loops of ribbon along the edge, mine is made of fleece, and my first loved hers. Now I need to get one for my new baby, too!

I second the taggie idea. I made one and it was easy and inexpensive.

We have two loveys (one piglet, one bunny) and dd used to LOVE chewing on them when she was teething. there are free patterns online as well as actual patterns in fabric stores, i just saw some made by butterick when i went in to buy a doll pattern.

I made taggies for my youngest too. She loves to chew the ribbons and play with them when she goes to sleep. Her and her blankie are inseperable!

hankerchief dolls

a quick way to make a handkerchief doll as a lovey is to ball one handkerchief up and then knot another one around it to form the head then knot 2 corners to make arms. you could probably adapt this very easily to add more detail, but it's a easy, no sew cheap make idea
