Names? - Page 3

Those are great names Carolyn. I especially like Elise. I'm partial to Bella as opposed to Belle but I think that is because that's my cousin's name (both are beautiful).

Here are our choices so far:

Girls: Ava, Mila, Sophie, Rose, Ivy, Gaia, Indira, Zara, Maeve, Scarlett, Iris,
and maybe even Harriet (Hattie for short...its a family name).

Boys: Fox, Evan, Xavier, Finn, Oliver, Harrison, and Reed

Its easier to pick girls names I find...

Boys names are always easy for us, but girls names can be tough.
That's funny - we find it much easier to pick girl names. If we have a girl, we both agree that we would like her first or middle name to be Elizabeth. I personally love the name Emily Elizabeth, but do you think a girl with this name would be teased? (due to the Clifford connection) Also, there's a cousin named Emily so we can't decide whether to go there. An alternative would be Eleanor Elizabeth. I would like Elizabeth as a first name but have a hard time thinking of middle names that would flow well with our last name.

Boy names are *so hard* for us. Last time we could only agree on one, and now it belongs to our son. I just thought of another though - Gale (one of my favorite actors, in case QAF fans are wondering!) - but I'll have to check it out with DH.

*Edited* to say that I just talked to DH and he likes Gale too. Miracles, agreement on a 2nd boy name! :LOL

Karen,
It seems to me that the name Eden is definitely on the rise. Since naming our dd two friends in different states, countries even, named their dd's Eden. And-grumble- The woman I ordered Eden's birth announcements from named her dd who was born a month later Eden too.

wawoof -- gale is gorgeous and so unique. emily on the other hand -- didja hear? #1 name in the country, and also #1 in all but three states. check it out, new social security administration report -- http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
it's pretty, but it's EVERYWHERE!

Oh my goodness, thanks for the warning. We're not into super popular names (we didn't think Ethan was that popular when we picked it, LOL), so we'll be looking for alternatives to Emily! Thanks for the feedback on Gale - we like it a lot too

glad to be of service to ya. yah, we're not into the popular, either. since we got married 12 years ago, we've wanted to name a daughter gabriella and call her ella. ha! here we are a decade later and ella has cracked the top 20, bummer! TWO of my old college roomies now have ellas (a wee bit sir-spish-ish, dontcha think?) our next door neighbors moved in and had an ella jane, our middle name choice, too, geesh. hubby still wants gabriella and call her gabby, but... we already have a robby and a neice named abby. hmmm...

Oh, that sucks! How obvious that she chose that after hearing your dd's name. If she had already picked it she would have said something like "Oh, that's what we want to name our baby if it's a girl!" or something along those lines. When we named Haven (our oldest dd) we knew she'd be one of a very few. I went to register for a Babies On Line webpage for her and used her name as the name of the page. It was already taken! So, I went to that page to check it out and it was a baby girl (Haven is actually a boy's name) born 1 week before my Haven! There was also a woman who was in the room beside me when I had my twins that had a girl and named her Haven. That was pretty cool though because she was over 2 years younger then my Haven.

What do you all think of Fiona? DH doesn't like it because of Shrek. Opinions?

For a boy we are considering Beau. I've gotten extreme reactions to it. Either people love it or hate it. I've noticed that most of the people who do not like it are from the more southern states and those who do like it are from other areas. I guess Beau (or Bo...but we'd use the first spelling) is very "country" in the south yet here and in other places it's more romantic and refined. What do you think?

Well, I'm from Texas so I do have the negative southern reaction. Just seems hickish, sorry

1 plus 2 -- sorry, ditto on the beau (bo duke! duke's of hazard fame, just down the road a'piece here.) BUT if around you it works, beau is beau-t-iful!

fiona i love, a gal in my last childbirth class named her girl fiona -- from the movie umm, "roan innish" i think? very celtic, it's cool! (forget shrek -- i did... forget that was her name in the movie that is!) hey, what about fiona grace??? :LOL (from the earlier post i had to you with the two part name including grace, heehee)

wawoof, thanks for the gabby support. hubby will love you. i think in a family of four extreme extroverts we could either be stating the obvious or setting her up for hilarious irony when she turns out to be the only quiet one of us.

trying to muster up some support for rafaele jeremiah (after my dad ralph and jeremiah after my most favorite uncle ever who just died). hubby is not on board, maybe, maybe, maybe if we called him jerry, which is actually what my uncle went by, but... what nicknames can you guys tease out of this? i know ralph is a REAL tuffy, but what about rafe (ralph fiennes) or is ralphie sorta cute? ugh, don't know.

thanks for input, this is fun!

I think Rafaele Jeremiah is a great name and a beautiful tribute to your family. I really like Rafe as a nickname but I do think Ralphie is kind of cute. I like it when older names are brought back. I hope you and your hubby can agree...is it possible to use Rafaele as the middle name? Jeremiah Rafaele sounds nice too and would make nicknaming a little easier.

I love Fiona. That is such a great name.

I've decided to just stop thinking about names. DH and I just can't agree and it will just be 31 more weeks of disagreement. Maybe it will come to me in a dream. If not, we can start talking around week 36 or so.
