A tear in a gauze wrap ... fix it? Or chuck it?

Is it possible to really fix a tear in gauze with just stitching it up, or is the gauze just going to keep tearing more and more? If I use an actual patch, perhaps, would that maybe stop it from continuing to tear?

Any suggestions, would appreciate it. I'm very attached to this wrap, and it's kinda new ...

I know, nobody wants to say "fix it" and then it'll fall apart kh'v'sh with the baby in it ... I'm not looking for that kind of responsibility, mamas ... :LOL ... just anyone who works with gauze at all, if you can tell me if it fixes well or if sewing up the tear is just deluding myself and should just get over it ... please ...

Maybe you can patch it. I think it might work if you add a generously sized patch and zig-zag back and forth and up and down, not just around the edges. Maybe a bit of fray-check if you have it for good measure.

If the tear is in the middle, maybe you could cut out the section with a tear and resew the two ends together with a french seam.

If it is a wahm made wrap, maybe email the mama and ask her.

What can it hurt? You will either have a torn wrap you can't use, a torn and mended wrap you can't use, or a good as new wrap that works fine!

You're welcome, you're welcome, you're welcome.

hehe

I also think that if it can't be fixed, it might make a really cool skirt like this: Tiered gypsy skirt (scroll down).
