Burda pattern: is it crazy or am I?

I'm trying to make a simple little sundress for DD with a Burda pattern. I first cut the front out upside down (all the happy butterflies were dive-bombing : ), so I had to go back to the fabric store and buy more fabric. Now I have all the butterflies flying upright and the front is a good inch longer than the back. I have the seam dots as lined up as they'll get. I know the straps on the back are longer to allow for buttons, but why would the front be shorter than the back in the hem area? I double- and triple-checked the pattern (I have it cut to the same age/size length on both--that was my first thought); it doesn't line up correctly either.

I am seriously losing my mind here. HELP! Please! Should I just sew it up and hem it using the back's length?

Thank you!

Did you finish the dress yet? It sounds like it might be a pattern error, Burda is usually pretty good though. Maybe double-check the seam dots, it is easy to transfer the wrong ones. Line up any seams too, like if there is a seam attaching the skirt to the bodice.

What is the pattern number, or do you have a link?

Do the paper pattern pieces not match, or just the fabric? If it's just the fabric, is it possible you didn't cut on the grain and it's stretched a bit? If it's the paper pieces, I'd fix the length on there and then transfer the changes to my fabric.

It's Burda 2633. I can't find a link to it online that works. It's a simple a-line sleeveless sundress.

The paper pattern pieces don't match. If you line them up by the top, they come close, but the tops aren't supposed to line up. The straps fasten with a button in front and the back flap is longer than the front flap...if that makes any sense! I think I'll just sew it and see what happens. I'm not sure what else to do.

This one?Burda 2633 ? Cute.

Hmm. You need to match at the armholes and the shoulders the most, so focus there. You can trim the bottom later to even it up as you said. How is the top finished, with facings or bias tape or something? If there are facings, it would be interesting to see how they match up with the rest of the dress pieces.

Really, you know what you are doing, so good luck. Who knows why the pieces aren't aligning , I would just finish it at this point. Have fun!
