CSI and little people

Did anyone catch CSI this week? The featured story was about a man who was murdered at a convention for little people. I really thought they handled all the issues that arose pretty well but was wondering what others may have thought. Network tv crime dramas are seldom a hotbed of sensitive thought, so I was impressed.

I saw it. I also thought they handled it pretty well. They managed to throw a lot of facts in about dwarfism. I was actually dreading it, afraid they would turn into a big joke. I was pleasantly surprised.
The Parents of Little People support group that I belong to also reacted positively to it.
I'm wondering what others who are not familiar with dwarfism thought about it. Did it clear up any misconceptions you may have had? Did it confuse you? Make you feel uncomfortable?
Any overall impressions?

I didn't see it, we don't have any TV reception anymore, but I used to really like that show. Seems like the producers liek to use it to bring about awareness on lots o fsubjects. I remember a show they did on a mon with high functioning Autism, and it was pretty well done and well received in the Autism community. I think that is one of the smartest shows on TV, as well as entertaining.

I was hoping to hear from you Peggy. And I am glad it is a good word, that the show wasn't rife with bigoted crap that flew under my radar, ya know?

I don't know about clearing up, but it probably opened my eyes a bit more. I have seen a few documentaries lately on the subject, the one on MTV and there was one on gee, was it Discovery? In any case, some of the situations really sort of drove home to me that like with many issues the 'problem' itself is really only half or less of the problem. A huge part of the problem is other people and their reaction. The one woman, I forget the name, but the one who found the body and was sort of antagonistic at first about a lot of things... because she clearly needs to be so on the defensive all the time about peoples attitudes , being the butt of jokes, etc.

I loved the smooth way they were able to introduce a handful of the devices that some little people use to adapt to the big world. It didn't feel like a PSA, just, a normal part of life. I liked that they wrote them all and discussed them all as people first, with all of that complexity rather than some caricature. I liked that some of them were as flawed and petty, etc as the usual gamut of characters on this show. I thought it was quite well done.

Of the weekly primetime programs, CSI is the one we NEVER miss... the episode on Dwarfism seemed to be done very tactfully.

CSI is one of my favorite shows although last night was a little gruesome and hard to follow while chatting on the phone LOL!

I really appreciated the episode about little people. I learned quite a lot and one scene I really remember is when the man was grilling grissom about what type of "help" CSI would offer because the man said that little people aren't taken seriously. Grissom responded that it was a crime scene and would be treated as such. I hope I remembered this correctly and I rarely remember shows I watch but this stuck in my mind for some reason.

It was quite factual but like someone already said already it was just part of the show and not like they were pointing things out specifically.
