stupid soap making question..

so, if I want to make goats milk soap (melt and pour) and I dont have a goats milk soap base, can I add fresh goats milk to my mixture?
I tried to find goats milk powder but the one store in our city that had it sold out! Someone came in and bought every last can!
So, can I? Or am I better off either finding goats milk base or just using powdered cows milk?

TIA

Nope. You can't add fresh milk to a M&P base soap. I'm not sure about powdered milk, but I know the only way to do milk in soap is to either rebatch (grate up regular soap, add some milk, and heat it until it melts together - I tried this, and it worked, but was very frustrating) or make a cold-process batch using milk as the liquid.

dang. I didnt think so but thought I'd ask to be safe (since I'm a soap newbie :LOL )

May I ask you one more question?
whats the difference between m&p soap base and regular soap? could I grate up soap base?

I hope the powdered milk works since I made a couple bars already! :LOL

m&p soap base is actually a form of rendered soap. It is chemically different from soap.

If you would like to re-batch soap, you need to be sure that it is "real" soap. Most commercial soap is actually detergent, and will not re-batch. Some soap-making supply houses sell special soap for re-batching. It is made with minial ingredients and you add what you prefer when you re-batch it.
