How do you freeze your meat long-term without getting freezer burn. We have been vacuum packing our meat with the "FoodSaver" thingy...all the while not even thinking of the plastic bags that it uses. 
What are FoodSaver Bags made of?
A: They are made of polyethylene (a type of plastic) with an outer layer of nylon for added strength and rigidity. The bags are recyclable under the "Other" category, which is recycle number 7.
Ugh!!! What do I do with a freezer full of plastic bags. Seriously, we just put in 30 lbs of 90% lean ground beef that I got on sale. 
We have been cutting plastic out of our lives slowly, but I never even thought about the freezer.ETA: I have to buy meat when it is on sale, and I just can't buy meat as we use it. It never works and I find myself running to the store every other day for dinner. Ack!
