My cart is the same and no one has ever looked at me funny, LOL.

im with you but we MUST have cinnamon toast crunch. I like central market (price chopper brand) I actually prefer their pasta sauce to others!

I LIVE for generics, so I have tried them all. I have found that the Kroger generics are the closest to national brands in everything except shampoo. But VO5 is cheaper even than generics, so i use that.
Safeway generics are a very close second. Their generic cereal is no different than Kelloggs or GMills. I have been buying generic cheerios for DS and have had no problems.

The worst generics are, no suprise, the Wal-Mart generics (yes, i do shop there from time to time - I'm poor : ) . I have found them to be sup-par quality. But i can do all my shopping in Kroger and Safeway generics with no compromise in quality.
The only things i NEVER buy generic is dishwasher soap, tampons, cellophane wrap, and toothpaste.

Right down the road from us! We're in Rochester. The Weg's folks are all jazzed up b/c that's the best company to work for, according to the recent Fortune list. It is a pretty great grocery store.

I just moved and everyone, EVERYONE, is telling me to go to Wegman's.

I made a new friend last week and she is going to take me to Wegman's. It MUST be good. LOL

Some store brands taste different, but not necessarily "bad". I've been buying mostly brand names, but only because I coupon and combined with sales I can usually get the stuff cheaper than the generic (if not free sometimes!)

I buy a few house brands: Wild Oats, Trader Joes, and the Full Circle brand that Giant Eagle carries, but that's about it. The ingredients and organic status matter more to me than the label.

I grew up on generic brands, and to be honest, I don't see the big deal with certain name brands. I wasn't impressed with quality of say del monte over Kroger, for example. I'm convinced it is what you grow up with that determines your taste for food. My husband grew up on only brand names. He's one of the pickiest eaters, and he's fond of several of the Meijer generic products But yeah, you do take a chance with generics in some markets. Kroger has a guarantee, and so far, Picky-boy (my nick name for DH) hasn't thrown anything away with Kroger on it.

We buy big packs of chicken breasts, chicken nuggets, canned veggies, bread (they carry their own brand in many whole grain versions, too), Club-type crackers, Graham crackers, spaghetti sauce, etc all labelled Meijer brand.

Some people get very set on certain tastes, though. And unless it is the exact brand, nothing will ever be as good as, in their opinions. His family is soooooo picky. The whole lot of them. I seem to have a lot of picky eaters around me...

Giant or Weis brands?

These are the two stores around me. I think Giant just started a new line of organics nature's choice or something. I think maybe Weis is a local area supermarket, not sure though.

Just wanted to see if people buy there store brand stuff.
I just have not had good luck with cheaper brands.

But I do got to boast about store brand medicine like tylenol, and stuff like that has been a plus, and good savings. I mean tylenol, or motrin is just that.
