Help me figure out where to keep the day's mail, and other papers I need...

Any ideas? I feel like I need to keep the mail out so my DH can see it when he gets home from work (though I immediately throw out the junk - he doesn't want that). And there are assorted papers, like order forms I intend to send out, the flyer for the store I plan to shop at today, etc! All these things seem to get shuffled back and forth between the kitchen table and the dishwasher, and it looks so junky. Our office is upstairs, so it's too inconvenient to put those things there. The kitchen is not real big - no room for a desk or anything like that in there.

I'm thinking some kind of "slot"/inbox type thing that I can hang on the wall in the kitchen. I'm afraid that it will look kind of junky too though. Please, please, give me your ideas!

I use a basket that's on top of a bookshelf (would work on a cabinet as well) for all the important papers like that. That's were I put all my bills, any coupons from the paper I might be using soon, scrap paper, my address book, checkbook, etc. It keeps it all contained and is easy since you just slip the papers into the appropriate side of the basket and you're done. Granted, its not the prettiest, but if you get a nice looking basket (mine's square with a handle) it can work.

We have just recently started using a basket too. I put important mail and papers in it, clear out old stuff and dh can take the whole basket with him to the kitchen table when he pays the bills. It seems to be working.

We have divided a drawer into 3 places for important mail/papers. We recycle or otherwise toss junk before it can accumulate
