What thread do I need to buy for a serger?

My SIL is going to let me borrow her serger. Never used one, know nothing! I've heard of wooly nylon, but have no idea what it is. Is it wool? Nylon? hmm. I bought 100% polyester thread for my sewing machine, but what do I need for a serger? I'm making AIO's with PUL and dont' want wicking issues.

Thanks!

Oh, and I noticed there are like 4-5 different rolls of thread (rolls??) on a serger. So I'm guessing I need to buy that many rolls of whatever you tell me to buy?

Wooly nylon is nylon thread that is fluffy. You will need as many cones of thread as the machine has loopers/needles. Some machines are 3, some are 4, some are 5 (there may be other numbers too, those are just ones I have used). I would think you would need poly thread for diapers on a serger. Serger thread is apparently thinner than regular machine thread.

Maxi-lock is the recommended brand of serger thread for general stuff.
