I have got to get these allergies under control

I suffer from chronic allergies. Mostly to pollen and dust, which we have plenty of in phoenix. I have tried allergy shots in the past. They worked a little but it was not worth the trouble to go every week, esp. after I had Abi. What a pain that was! I take Singulair for asthma which is working great. I take Claritin but it dries me out and it's not working that well this year. Sudafed takes the headaches away but makes my heart race.

I am willing to venture into some more natural treatments. Any brands to recommend? Ugh, this is just awful. I keep waiting for the allergy season to end. In the meantime I have chronic fatique, dripping nose, dry eyes.

Thanks!

I'm 5 months pregnant right now, so my allergies are going nuts and there's really not "strong" medication I'm willing to take during this time. My Doc okayed Claritin, but just like in your case I does not work very well. Right now I've found that
"Similasan" Homeopathic Nasal Spray for Pollen etc. Allergies

works quite well in my case. It's a combination homeopathic remedy, which means it has more than one ingredient in it to treat allergies. It's not how homeopathy is used classicallly (specific personal symptoms (not an "illness per se" is matched with one specific homeopathic remedy), but I found that many of the combination remedies work really well if they are well formulated, like this nasal spray.

I hope you find something that works for you soon You should be able to find this Spray at a Health Food Store near you, but I've also seen some ads on TV saying it should be a "drugstore near you" (I'm thinking Walgreens, CVS)

Maybe try local small-batch honey? I know it worked for me my first hellish season back in new england after years in the Carolinas - our homeopath said it's somewhat similar to allergy shots in that it desensitises you a bit to the local allergens.

Thanks for the ideas. I will try them. This year's season has been horrible because we are ending a 10 year drought. All those seeds that were dormant for 10 years are sprouting. Dh just hired some men to come and remove all our weeds from the backyard because he can't keep up with them anymore.

Today I took a Benedryl for the first time in ages. They normally knock me out but I needed some relief from the itching inside my nose and my eyes, KWIM? How sad is that, that I feel more energy on Benedryl than off it? The allergy symptoms are gone for the moment and maybe I'll even sleep better tonight!

Dh brought me home an air purifier for our room. That was so sweet of him!
