talk about sunscreen

OK, I don't know if this has been asked recently but does anyone know what to look out for in sunscreen?? DD - 11 months old- starts in a dayhome this week and they require we send suscreen with her so i'm in the market. I personally hate the stuff, feels all chemically, but dd has some patches of skin without pigment that will burn if you even mention sun (haven't done it yet, but her dad has them too, and had to be super-careful).

So.....anyone know which ingredients to watch out for (to get or avoid) or have a recommendation for a good brand????

Your help is much appreciatred!

I just asked this recently, and I know you want to block both uva and uvb rays as much as possible. There are sun blocks and sunscreens, and they do what they say-one blocks and one screens out some rays. Then there is the spf #. I've heard that over 30 doesn't even work, but you better believe I still look for high spf's, for my kids especially. I know that clear zinc oxide is good stuff, as is the white colored. I like clear better (less messy) and you find it in offhanded places, or at least I have in the past, like in the pool supply section at my local k-mart and diapering section at my local Giant grocery store. It was not at my whole foods store, so go figure. I think the paba is the stuff to avoid, kinda like how you avoid deet for bug repellents. I got some great advice and suggestions were aubrey's and california baby and one or two others for natural brands. I think waterbabies is recommended a lot for being a brand that is uhhh, not so natural.
