I think it really depends on what type of books they are. I would do a search of the closed auctions on eBay to see if they sell well - you can do this under "Advanced Search". I have been selling my old books on half.com, some sell better than others. My old physics and nuclear engineering textbooks from college went like hotcakes - some of them I sold for almost as much as I paid for them 10 years ago. I listed some paperbacks as well, but to tell you the truth it's not really worth the effort. A few sell, most don't, and when you look at the others they are frequently priced at 75 cents. You make a little bit of money, but I that point I feel that it's not really worth it, KWIM?
I think I'm going to remove my paperbacks from half.com and just donate them to Goodwill. We itemize deductions on our tax return and when you value donations appropriately (I use "It's Deductible" to get fair market values) then it can really add up come tax time. Of course that's almost a year away, but it is nice to be able to get the stuff out of my house quickly.

Bottom line for me - if it goes for under $1 - $2 on half.com then it goes to charity, others I'll list and sell. We're getting ready to move later this year (love the navy) so I'll probably give a lot to Goodwill.
I haven't had any experience with selling on Amazon, I hope others have some input because I'm curious about it as well!
