aak, pail liner/wetbag/draw string help please!

So I measured my pail several times and thought I had it perfect--but I just tried to put the pail liner I made in it and somehow I made it WAY too small.

I haven't done a closure yet--all I did was fold the fabric in half and sew the other side together, and one end. The other end is open. I'd like to make this into an extra wetbag with a drawstring or zipper closure. Something to keep in the bathroom upstairs. I'd make it a hanging one, but given my inexperience, I think I'd better not even attempt that!

So, what would you suggest? Zipper or drawstring? I've done zippers before and they're a pain. I have no idea how to do a drawstring: anyone know where to get it/what kind? And how do I put it in?

Thanks all you amazing seamstresses! I want to be like you someday!

drawstring, definitely!! You just fold over the top edge an inch or so and stitch in place all around. I forgot to leave a hole for the string when I made mine, so I just cut a hole in the casing; luckily pul doesn't ravel

So did you put the drawstring in before you sew it?

And where do you get the drawstring? And what kind? Will cotton be okay? Also what kind of closure?

You know those little do-da's that you push the button and thread the laces through...like at the end of a coat drawstring? I saw those for sale at Joanne's the other day. I thought if I ever made a wet bag out of my PUL scraps, I'd buy a long shoe lace and one of those to close it with. I don't know the name of them, though.

Here's a link for drawstring directions.

msright2474, it's called a toggle.

sorry, I didn't see your reply before, having a heck of a week. I got a set of cotton cords at JoAnn, in a pack with one long nad one short. I thing they also sell the cord by the yard, but these had the ends finished like shoelaces. I use plastic toggles that I had around from an old project that never got finished
