Lyrics question: Lime in the Coke

Ok, yk that coke commercial for their new version coke w/ lime: "ya put the lime in the coke, and then you drink them both together...." with a cool jamaican? flair? Is that based on a real song? If so, what's the title and/or what are the lyrics?

It is a real song. It starts - you put the lime in the coconut....

The name of the song is "Coconut" by Harry Nilsson. It was made popular in Reservoir Dogs.

Nilsson was a white guy with a good sense of imagination-- not Jamaican at all.

Yeah, I am kinda glad they used a version of this song in a commercial 'cause now they are playing the Nilsson tune on the radio again!
I've never heard the muppets version! I bet that rocks.

Ds loves this song!!! I constantly have it running through my head. And I am one of those annoying people who can only remember one phrase of a song..."ya put the lime in the coconut and la la la la "

My good friend made me a mixed cd with this song on it! It is always in my head because I love the mixed cd.

Of course the Whole "lime in the Coke" throws me off from the original version. :LOL

i downloaded that song way back, after hearing it on practical magic. ds and i used to sing it to dd. now after hearing it on the commercial, dd is singing it all the time! very cute coming out of her 2.5 yr old mouth.
