My classmate has a 7 year old yellow lab
: and a 6 month old irish setter
: . Both are having terrible skin allergies and the pup has actually chewed/scratched herself almost bald! They were both put on prednisone and another med. but if they miss even a dose, they are back to scratching/biting fur. the older dog's allergies are less severe than the pup. They are currently on Pedigree but their skin was fine in Alabama (where they are from). Now that they are in Arizona they developed the allergies. Is there anything they can try while they are waiting for the vet's appointment? They live on a military base and the waiting list for appoitnments is almost a month long. I suggested a food change to something without so much grain and a good source of protein and fat (which are important for skin health). I dont know much about anything else they can try though. Any suggestions? Thanks!
