PUL Scraps

Thread Starter
I've made lots of diapers for my dd and even some for friends. Now I have tons of oval shaped PUL scraps that are not big enough for diapers. What do you do with your PUL scraps? I thought about cutting quilt scraps and making wet bags that look like quilts, but PUL is not the funnest thing to sew. My machine tends to skip stitches at times just sewing one layer of PUL. I can't imagine sewing two pieces together. Also, I don't know if I want to do anything like mama pads.

I thought about putting them all on ebay in one lot for a WAHM who makes mama pads. You think this is even worth the time? I cannot stand to waist any bit of fabric. I've spent the last few days cutting quilt squares out of my cotton and blend fabrics. I think I already have enough for two quilts and I haven't even finished with my scrap tub!! :

Hmmm, I use mine for mama cloth...can't think of anything else they'd be good for. A patchwork wetbag would be really cute, but I agree that it would probably be a PITA to sew together. You could try putting it on the TP here, I'm sure there are mamas that could use the scraps for mama cloth.
I have a huge tub of quilt squares too...I hate to throw any fabric away. I have enough for several quilts now but I'm so busy sewing diapers I probably won't get around to making them until my kids move out!
I hope you find something to do with them!

I would say mama cloth too, or if you have enough, how about wipe bags? or maybe even little ice bags, for booboos, you can put ice in them and wrap in a towel, so they dont get soaking wet ...hmm not sure what else you can do with it either other than that!

Hmm, other than mama cloth, I think the quilt wetbag sounds really cool! Do you have a walking presser foot? This is the only way my machine likes to sew PUL.

I had a big-ish scrap recently and used it to make a small tote for my grandmother. I mean *small* -- just big enough to fit her ice tea bottle (she's 80 and still works every day, and brings her drink with her). The outside was a woven cotton and the PUL lined the inside so it would be waterproof if her drink leaked. I bet you could do the same, maybe even with a flap closure, or something.

I was just wondering the same thing!

Just brain storming here... What about making little bags for toiletries when travelling? YK, so you can carry your soggy soap & toothbrush without contaminating your whole kit, or keep your mini-shampoo from leaking everywhere. With a coordinating travel bag they'd make a nice gift, too. Or for campers/outdoor types, little bags to keep matches and such in so they don't get wet. Or a map carrier for biking enthusiasts. Or a little wrist bag to bring to the beach or pool, so you can swim & keep your valuables dry and with you. Or a treasure bag for kids so the gooey &/or wet &/or dirty stuff they find around doesn't go into their pockets. Hmm, now I know what to do with my scraps, too!! LOL

Great ideas, Scoutycat! You rock! The only one I can add is that I've used my scraps to make diaper keychains. Quite cute.
