Eczema culprit uncovered

So, since Christmas I have been dealing with very mild eczema. This has never been a problem for me before except for a short period of time in my teens. I have no known allergies, only a slight sensitivity to eggs. Anyway, I was getting it on the inside of my elbows (a common place, I believe,) and on my inner thighs. I could not for the life of me figure out why. Then I started thinking about what I've been eating and realized I've been eating a ton of olives since Christmas. (Bad, I know, but they're sooo good.) I stoppd eating them and voila! Eczema is gone!

My question is, what exactly was causing it? The ingredients are: olives, water, salt, and lactic acid. I've eaten olives before with no problems. Could it have been because I was eating so many? (I really was eating ALOT.)

Supposedly an intense craving for a food can indicate an allergy to it.

It is possible that the large quantity can bring on symptoms.
You may be able to eat them in small amounts but in larger quantities, it will create noticeable reaction.

I've also heard that there is a type of mould on olives that some people are sensitive to.
