WOOHOO!! Israel Kamakawiwo'ole ROCKS!

I wish I would have known about him when he was alive. I jusr recently heard him when looking for a birthday present for my SIL. She lived in Hawaii for some years as a teen. Went to high school there and a couple months ago had the chance to return on business (she is a nurse and was able to do a seminar there). Her eldest daughter is station there in the NAVY and so the two were able to hang out there. Anyway I figured she would like some REAL Hawaiin music and went searching on the net as to where I could purchase some. I then found IZ. I listened to a few blurbs of his songs and fell in love.

For ONE WEEK I have been looking all over our local stories, including Best Buy, and coming up emptied handed. Then I tried the Sam Goody in Southern Pines, and WOW! There were only TWO of his CD's. I got one for SIL and got the other for me. Thankfully my fav song by him (Henehene Kou 'Aka) is on both CD's so I didn't have to compromise and go without

Anyway, just thought I would share and perhaps turn some of ya on to him.

Yes! His is some of my favorite music out there. I usually get stuck in one single song and want to hear it over and over again (This drives Dh crazy :LOL).

I highly reccommend him too - I'm so glad you were able to find some CDs!

I bought his CD simply for his rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and ended up loving his sound.

Ah yeah!! Love this as well. I also like his "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".

I took the CD to work yesterday and played it at naptime- the kids loved it. Heck, so did the teachers.

I have this song on now, it's also what brought me to him. After hearing a clip of this song in the old eToys commercials I searched forever until I figured out who it was. I love his music, it's very relaxing and my kids' love it too .

Iz was a really cool, sweet guy. Dh and i lived in Hawai'i for seven years and i met him once, shortly before he died. He played a concert in Borders Books and Music. Awesome voice, popular guy... but really, in Hawai'i, he was just one of the bros, y'know? Just a regular kama'aina, everyone loved him to bits. It was so sad when he died.
