I have stayed away from this thread until now. I saw Calm on the list and thought, 'oh I aught to look'. I read the last page of the thread and did not see a reference to the Summerhill (spelling?) methods. It's an old, somewhat dated book. But, it has great insight into alternate methods of dealing with a child's behaviors. Patience and perseverance are the key. They also talk about guilt in an eye opening way. It is worth reading for those looking for non-violent ways of dealing with behavior issues in children.
