Update on my CONDOM post - Page 2

I just wanted to reiterate what Momtwice wrote.

Planned Parenthood's condoms scored VERY LOW for safety in Consumer Reports' testing. I wouldn't trust them with my DH against pregnancy only. I definitely would hate to see my teen using them for pregnancy and STDs!!

Make sure he realizes he needs protection for oral sex as well. You would be surprised how many people don't realize that.

What is up with the consumer reports rating? DH was intrigued and wanted to look at it (he said that its a plot by the religious right to badmouth pp - LOL).

But did you check out the ratings? PP assorted condoms (not the lollipop ones??/ whatever those are) got Poor for Strength but Excellent for reliability???

WHat the h*** does that mean? They break every time?

And unfortunately we have tons of junior high girls here having anal sex to preserve their virginity... unprotected. So sad.

Um, my PP gives out name brand condoms, usually Lifestyles or Trojans. Are you saying that most give out special PP condoms?

The PP here, does brand names, too. A variety. So did the report say which ones were rated poorly? Or was there some generic PP "brand" they were rating?

Oh, you might want to suggest to him that he also carry the individual applicators of spermicidal jelly. Using that greatly increases the success rate of pregnancy prevention.

yes but they can cut off circulation which can keep men from . . um . . finishing the job . . . . So you need a nice snug fit without pain.

The "normal sized" ones were too snug, uncomfortable for him, and wouldn't stay on properly. I can't imagine how effective a condom would be if it slipped off in the middle!

Alexa Albert when she was a young medical student did some studies on condoms. She went to a legal house of prostitution in Las Vegas and collected the condoms from the prostititutes. She wanted to study the incidence of breaking or puncture holes. She never found any and the prostitutes never had a problem with breakage. Of course, no one wants to be the one in a million, but I thought I'd throw that out there. She went on to write a very interesting book called Brothel.
