What would you do?

Okay, I experimented last night with layers, ect, for absorbancy and what not (kind of hard to go into the details ATM). Anyway, now I'm not sure if I want to do the soaker attached to the dipe, do a pocket dipe, or make the soaker where it attaches to the dipe. So, what would you make and why?

I do mine pocket-style, because I like things to be quick-dry, but I don't like things flopping around inside the diaper while I'm trying to put it on the baby.

I also like quick dry and I think the trifolded soakers are too bulky as a lay in. I'd probably do a pocket style also since I like aplix instead of snaps and I don't know how you would go about attaching a soaker with aplix. So if you don't have a snap press you may want to consider that.

Stell...do you do pocket style even if you use all absorbant layers...no pul...etc?

Yes, I do - doing a pocket-type fitted lets me use an all-recycled system (because I can use wool on top), and still have quick-dry, adjustable absorbency diapers. Also, not going with AIO's gives the added protection of a 2-layer system (poop has to get through 2 leg openings before it gets on clothes) and I can re-use the covers.

Thanks Stell!

I prefer pocket style for my fitteds and AIOs too. I've tried a variety of lay in, snap in and attached flap style soakers too but like pp said, I don't like the soakers moving around. I also think that the edges of external soakers could be uncomfortable against the crotch. I do use an external soaker when I put a cotton print over hidden pul lined with suedecloth AIO because I think it reduces wicking at the legs. My usual AIO pockets are absorbent fabric inners (not microfleece or suedecloth) with plain PUL outers and I don't have wicking with those.

Fitted pockets are wonderful for nights especially, since you can add as much as you need and not worry about drying time. Just add a wool cover and you're set.

I have made internal soaker diapers too. I like fitteds made this way, but AIOs take way too long to dry IMHO. With internal soakers I use mostly microfiber; hemp can get stinky and take a long time to dry.
