my water broke!

I have been having irregular contractions that weren't painful all afternoon.
then I made dinner and kerplash! my water broke all over the floor. I called the midwife and she pretty much quashed my hopes of a homebirth (bc midwives don't attend homebirth before 37 weeks, I am 36 weeks and a day)
But I know I can hold my own in the hospital so I guess that's okay.
one thing she said that worried me was that she doesn't want me to have the baby at our local level 1 hospital (were I work) in case there is something wrong with the baby, she wants us to drive to the level 2 hospital 30 min away because they have a nursery. Oh well I guess we will just have to see how long it is going to take for me to go in to labor.
give me lots of quick labor vibes.
with my last pg my water broke at 35 weeks and I decided to be induced 24 hours later (I was gbs+ and getting lots of yucky Iv antibiotics I couldn't wait it out) but I don't think I want to do that again.

YAY! and oh no!!!!

That's awesome your water broke! Too bad you can't have a homebirth but hopefully all will go well. Sending vibes your labor goes fast!!!! (Maybe fast enough to not make it to the hospital in time to give birth...you know...walk through the door pushing!)

Hope it turns out how you want!!! YAY!

Yes the midwife is still going to be my primary care provider in the hospital, I don't even need an ob consult until my membranes have been ruptured for 72 hours, as long as my temp stays down and baby keeps moving.

I want to go in to labor on my own, and not be induced with a pit drip, so I feel conflicted like on one hand I think I should take it easy on the other I feel like I should start doing some serious walking around. The longer the baby stays in (barring any infection) the better off she is, its just too bad she couldn't wait until tues when I would have been cleared for a home birth.
I will update when I start having contractions.

In my childbirth class at Andaluz Waterbirth Center (direct entry midwives btw) we watched a film about a woman whose water broke and she didn't go into labor for 8 days. She carefully monitored the baby and all of her vitals with the midwives in constant contact with her. Both baby and mother came out just fine.
Tuesday is only 4 days away. Check with your midwife see how long she is willing to let you go if all of your vitals are ok and the baby is moving plenty and doing ok.

Good luck hon! Good labor vibes to you.

well the mw was here and just left, the baby's hb is great and lots of movement and I have no temp, so we are just waiting it out, the mw has said that it is completely reasonable to wait at least 72 hours for labor to start spontaneously so I have with no worries until 7 pm sunday. She didn't talk much about what to do after that because she said most (something like 90% ) are born by then. but the bummer is baby turned definately posterior and maybe breech. I declined an ultrasound to confirm because I just don't want to go there yet. I am not interested in a c section so it really doesn't matter. I have decided that if there are no contractions by tomorrow morning I will go out and get some blue and black cohosh. and see if things will get jumpstarted.

Oh I hope she turns back to vertex!! Did your mw suggest trying the breech tilt? I don't know if it would help but it might! www.spinningbabies.com I wish you all the best!

Maybe drink water and walk around?

I wish labor would start for me LOL

Oooh, I'm right there with you!

Water broke only 4 hours ago now, but nothing serious in the wayof contrax going on - and I'm pretty sure the stubborn one is still breech and probably posterior as well...
