How many diapers did it take you

till you made really good quality ones that last along time? :LOL

Im asking because Ive made several dipes and some come out well.. pretty nice and then after a few washes they seem to feel stiff or the edges curl or slight fraying. I am using quality materials like sherpa and MM micro fleece, cotton prints that I see other WAHMs using. I have the VB AIO pattern and the ones from WAHMs Ive had for about 10 months and mine arent half as nice after only a month or so. I feel like Im wasting more $$$ than it would cost to buy from a WAHM. :

I still don't make diapers that I think are as nice as the wahm diapers - and I've been sewing diapers for three years now. That's why I've never sewed the VB diapers for sale myself. Well, that and time restraints. But though my diapers aren't perfect, they work and they're still fun to sew!

Well I don't have any WAHM diapers. I decided I would cd as I made them. It took me 4 tries to get a diaper that was even usable. It took me another 8 tries to get a diaper that I used for more than a few months. And then it took me another couple tries to perfect the pattern for my son . I've spent quite a bit of time getting it the way I want it. I didn't use expensive fabric on the first 4 dipes though. Just cheap walmart stuff until I figured everything out.

I only have a dozen diapers or so. I wash everyday. And I've been using the same ones since last July. And they are getting pretty beat up. But still very usable.

Also, when I get diaper that just doesn't work anymore after a short time, I take part of it apart to reuse it (like the Aplix especially!) to help defray costs.

However, I'm a former quilter and I just like buying fabric, so for me the buying is as much of a hobby as the sewing is or the cding is
