My turn -my FIRST diaper ;-)

Ok, after having seen so many great results of first diapers, I'm almost a bit too shy to show you mine.. but I won't be a coward and just go ahead..

I didn't follow a certain pattern but simply traced a kissaluv's size 0 and played around with the fabrics that I had. I believe the size turned out way too small, DD already claimed it for her doll . (I bought that fleece at Walmart very cheap and used soft flannel for the inner layer -with a soaker pad sewed in too, made it quite bulky.. but hey, it's meant for fun and practice! ) It's by far not perfect.. I have to learn how to get it down with the elastic (somehow I must have stretched it too much or something?..) and don't look at the seams etc. either! *lol*

Either way, it felt darn good making my own diaper and I couldn't stop looking at it all night after I had it done! -Even DH showered me with compliments (and until then he was even more the sceptical part towards the whole CD thing since we used disposables with our DD.. )

Ok, enough of my babbling,
here it is:

I think it looks great! I have a fleece cover with almost the exact same coloring!

I think it looks awesome! I don't know how big your baby will be, but I had a 7 lb. 2 oz. babe and the Kissaluvs 0's were too big for the first week. I'd at least give that diaper a try when you have your baby.

Looks great! The fabric is really cute!

Thanks, girls!

AngelBee.
really? How funny! I've seen that fleece and thought "I must try it for my first dipe!" I just love the fact that CD are not only in so many other ways much better than disposables but that we also get so much cuter choices when it comes to colors, design etc.

Oh my.. I guess having a 3 year old let me forget how small they start out when they're born, huh? -DD was 7.7 lbs and I assume her brother will be about the same.. So I might really go ahead and give my dipe a try! (At least one time for the pic -should it not work in RL as a dipe function! )

Yep, I agree!!! I've definately found my new passion! -And I'm so glad I've found this place to share it with you ladies! I know some other moms whom I tell what I do are looking at me as if I'm crazy! (They don't understand that whole CD euphoria anyways! *lol*)

That looks great! Since you shop at Hell Mart, I hope you don't mind me making a recommendation. Go to the auto detailing section and look (usually on the bottom shelf) for blue and white microfiber terrycloth detailing rags. They ROCK! I bought them to use as stuffers for my fuzzi bunz and ended up using them for burp rags, cleaning rags, and now soaker pads.

Oh wow, thanks for that hint! I'd have never gone into that section! :LOL

-The only reason I shop at Walmart for fabrics is b/c we don't have a fabrics store near us and for me as a beginner I thought it's the easiest way to start out with cheaper fabric, KWIM?

Hey I shop there because I live in a town with four Super Wal Marts and no other options. You make do with what you have. (yes...there are FOUR of those places in my town).

Oh wow, 4, huh? That's a lot! But I have to say, at least you have a better chance this way if one doesn't carry something you're looking for, the other one might! (Like I've found for ex. the perfect nursing bra. That was 5 weeks ago. Ever since then they still never got more of those -I bought the only small size they had, it seems!..*roll eyes*)
