Ouch! Sore Ribs anyone?

I swear the bottom right half of my ribcage is bruised...it is so sore and painful!! Im assuming this is due to a butt or feet (hopefully not a head) rubbing all content against it? I don't remember this the first two times around but then again everything is so different this time anyway. Since my mw wont see me until I hit 36 weeks because of the preterm labor, I have been seeing this OB doctor. I dont know what medical school did for her. I asked her on Monday what position the baby was in and she said she really had no clue unless she did an ultrasound. Everytime I asked my mw this question she was able to feel around and give me an idea or two of what was where. Anyway I digress and the only thing I have found to relieve this soreness is a hot bath...or getting on my hands and knees and rocking back and forth to take the pressure off my ribcage.

Aaahhh, yes, I feel your pain!! I've had a few sore ribs lately!! I had another appt with my MW today and the baby was positioned LOT, (I think that's what it's called). Basically she said that baby is perfectly positioned, butt up in my ribs on the left/middle and a foot or two jabbing me on the right side of my ribs every once and a while, ugh!!

That is weird that your OB can't tell what position the baby is in. Even I can tell by palpating around a little bit. You'd think she'd have some sort of a clue...

Well, once you see your mw, she'll let you know for sure.

It's really not that unusual. They are indeed pretty clueless without their machines (not that those are real reliable). Some OBs can feel due to their training, but very few really. They're trained in pathology, not in healing remember.

To the OP - Yes, awoke with sore ribs. This baby did have her head in my pelvis, but seems to have changed her mind and is now making life rather uncomfortable for me.

My ob never really touchs my belly. He just started measuring at my 34 week appointment. He does not touch around to get a feel of what position baby is in. He has to swish the doppler around to find a HB. I wonder how they know if baby is head down? I bet you get an ultrasound when you check into the hospital!

My midwife, always palpates my tummy. She always tells me to tell her if I am uncomfortable. She can feel a head & the back & apendages. It is pretty cool. Then at the HB check & she is always right on. Such different care!!

Sorry to highjack the thread! No sore ribs here, just sore bladder!!!

My bras are all fitting poorly bc my ribs have expanded with this kid. I'd go braless if not for the monster pregnancy boobs! So yeah, ribs hurt.
