I don't have life insurance. The house is automatically paid off if either of us dies & he's got life insurance. The house pay-off thing is pretty cheap... $15. per year or something?! It's nice to know my demise would come with perks Plus, not having a mortgage payment anymore would cover the cost of all the McSuppers DH would be providing the kids with. I think my mom would take care of them while he worked.

Enough on him to pay for the house and any outstanding bills and put the kids through college. On top of that we have his regular insurance through work that pays 2 years of his salary. Plus we have some extra so that I will be able to do some training, because if something happens to him I will need to work.

My policy is smaller then dh's. If I were to pass the house and education would be paid for, and he would still be employed. If he were to pass, the expenses for me would be greater.

We set up our life insurance policies about two weeks after DD was born. My husband's policy is about 3 times that of mine, but if I were to go to work as an attorney, we would up my policy - he and I would then be making roughly the same amount of money each year, so replacing that income would be important.

We don't have a policy on DD right now. God forbid something happen, my uncle is a funeral director and we'd do everything at cost. But I never thought about the investment aspect of insurance, and we may look into that. Right now, we are kind of insurance poor, but that peace of mind is worth it.
