My almost 4 yr old DD has had a few asthma attacks in the past 6 months, so we took her to see an Allergy/Asthma specialist. They did a skin test and she came up highly allergic to Dust/Dust Mites, Mold, and Oak pollen (and she had a "hidden" sinus infection, probably caused by the allergies).
I know that the main area of the house to work on is the bedroom, and that we need to get allergen-blocking encasings for the mattress, pillows, etc. We are also planning on removing the carpet and replacing with a hard floor (wood laminate/Pergo kind of stuff). However, there seem to be countless places that sell "Allergen Barriers" for bedding - how do I know what's good/what works? I tried to find a comparison site, but all I can find is places that sell them. And of course they all sell innumerable other allergy products, such as laundry additives and test kits. I want to reduce the allergens DD is exposed to, but our budget can't take much. What products are really useful and do they actually seem to work? How can I compare the different types of bedding products?
Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!
Jennifer
