Please, read this thread if you haven't. There are lots of moms here who circ'd. Some posted on this thread, I believe. They aren't angry at you, but angry to find one more person (you) who has been misled by society, who's had this option offered up to you like it's NORMAL.
I think we're angry on your behalf, your son's behalf. I hope that makes sense.

ITA that it's the doctors who keep parents ignorant who deserve most of your and our anger. I mean, would they let you cut off any other part of your baby's body without informing you of the risks? A doctor's office is not a drive through where you can order up whatever surgery you want - "I'll have a tonsillectomy to prevent strep throat, an appendectomy to prevent appendicitis, and gimme a side of circumcision to prevent everything else."
"That'll be 999.99, please drive up." NOT!

I am angry at people like my BIL and SIL who circed EVEN THOUGH we gave them all the info. sheep. I am not angry at parents like PJsMomma and igbysmom who didn't know any better. Yeah, it would have been great if you had questioned circ in time, but realistically brought up in this culture accepting circ as normal and non-harmful that's a lot to expect.

This is exactly why I so much hate circumcision. It does not only hurt children but it hurts mothers do. I hate every single doctor out there who is too lazy, proud or money greedy to take 5 minutes to educate him/herself. Every doctor who in his/hers ignorance advices parents to retrack intact boys to avoid diseases etc.

Shame on them.

And I cannot understand why this does not make national news. If doctors were advicing parents to stretch their babygirls' vaginas to avoid later problems it would be a scandal news in every media. But boys can't be harmed freely and no one gets interested.
