Just when you think you've got a handle on things...

ds is almost 4. No allergies although has had major sensitivities due to adverse vax reaction that actually burnt the hairs from his colin when he was 8wks old. GRRRR! He couldn't digest much of anything (other than bm, of course) his first year. No milk/milk protien after that until closer to 2. DIscovered power of probiotics when 3 and the colitis was finally cured! WAHOO!

2 days ago he awoke with what looked like bug bites on belly. WHen htey traveled under armpits, scalp, trunk, then rest of body- we thought early stages of chicken pox. Took to ER last night when my "mommy meter" went off that something wasn't right. Doc said hives- not pox- and starting severe allergic reaction. WE HAVE NO IDEA TO WHAT!!!! No new foods, detergents, places. We're stumped. The onyl thing we could coem up with was going out to eat the night before- he ate grilled cheeze but there was much at the table- and Italian herbs and stuff. ??? He took the steroids and hives significantly better by morning. He acted like new kid today- but wait! He's hiving out again!!!! All over his face, eyelids, etc. No breathing trouble, just itchy- and very red andswollen. What's goign on? Does it take awhile to get down? Is it a down/up/down/up? COuld I be re-exposing him to whatever did this not knowing what it is? Can you jsut develop a new allergy??? Argh! Help! We are very very light with milk products- and have had a lot over alst 2 wks (dh on vacation-eating out a lot, etc) Could that be doing this?

Thanks for reading!

We had a horrible bout of hives this spring. Ds came in from playing in our yard and was covered in huge (5") welts everywhere but the heat zones. We called the allergist and gave Benedryl. It took three days for the hive to stop re-accuring. We searched for bits and found nothing. Ped. said it could have been a Virus but I just don't know. I'm so afraid that whatever it was will get him again and it will be worse. (He is only allergic to peanuts)

I hope you find out what caused them. Not knowing is so hard.
