Who will cloth diaper new babe?

Anyone planning to cloth diaper their january baby? I use cloth on my 10 month old dd, but didn't start until she was 4 months old. I'm so excited to have a real reason to buy more. Those who have CD a newborn, what did you use and like?

I've done my other two girls and Livia since birth (she is 23 months) so this one will be cloth diapered as well

I really liked infant prefolds and small bummi's wraps when they were tiny. I have big babes though so they don't overwhelm them much

Count me in. I started when ds1 was 19m old and have used the same diapers and covers on all three! I used cottonwood baby flannel prefolds with Nikky covers. I have since then taken up knitting so I know I will also use some wool covers as they are GREAT for night ! I have tried to avoid buying any new diapers as for me it defeats the purpose of saving money if I keep buying new dipes! I did get a few Sugarpeas for ds3 and love, love, love them. Love my cloth diapers. Once on a trip I used sposies and my oldest son told me the babe didn't like 'those paper diapers and wanted his soft ones . I had to agree!

We CDed DS from birth and will CD this baby too.

When DS was a newborn, we used Kissaluvs Size O fitteds with pull-up Dappi covers. These were wonderful and easy, but the Kissaluvs were not cheap. Because I couldn't afford many Kissaluvs (we had 18), I had to wash every day, which was a pain. The Kissaluvs also weren't absorbant enough after about 6 weeks old. This time I plan on using infant prefolds fastened with a snappi, with the Dappi pull on covers (cheap and effective). These are cheap, so I can have enough to wash only every few days, and the baby shouldn't out grow them until much later.

Hope this helps!

We used CD with both of our girls, diaper service for the eldest at first and then bought our own. I used infant-sized Chinese prefolds, which worked great with my favorite wraps in the small size (Pro-wraps). We also used bummis, which worked well. The infant-sized prefolds aren't absorbent enough for very long, but they work great as an extra layer for nighttime when the children are older. I had big babies like Frogmorest and that may have been part of the reason these worked so well for us.

Like many of you, I bet, we love our cloth diapers and we were amazed at how easy it is to use and wash them.

DD has been in cloth since the beginning. We did use landfill diapers on her when her navel got infected as the cord was drying up - The Bummi covers we had were rubbing up against the cord and irritated it a bit too much...Other than that, our prefolds & Bummi system worked very well until she outgrew them at 3 months, at which point we switched to fitted diapers & Alexis featherlite pants. I still have our prefolds & Bummi covers, so I'll use those for our next newborn, but I'm going to add in a few Kissaluvs size 0 with snap-down fronts (from the outlet store - MUCH cheaper) & Alexis featherlites for the first few weeks...I really LOVE Alexis featherlite pants as covers (cheap, comfortable, slim-fitting & no leaks). Also, a friend passed her small Firefly & Fuzbaby diapers to us, and I'm excited to use those, too.

I used cloth on my son (who has been potty trained for about 2 weeks!) and plan to do so with this babe. I used prefolds and am going to do so again. They dry MUCH faster and are cheaper and longer lasting.

nak

DD was CDed and I have a ton of dipes that this one will inherit. Nothing cute or WHAMy but all very functional.

We used disposables, though, until she was done with the meconium. Will mec stain? I've heard both that it will and that it won't - any experiences?

because -
All of my dd's mec washed right out of her prefolds without any special washing attention on my part...but, she only had about 3 mec poops, so I've only had a little bit of experience with that.

We will CD as well. I'm almost done with my newborn stash! :sheepish Can you tell this baby was not just planned, but longed for! :LOL We just need a handful of fitteds and some knitted pants (3pr in the works already! )

I am making prefolds with t-shirts . I want to try to make all-in-ones, as well, but am a little hesitant. My sewing skills aren't that good

We started CDing DD when she was 4 months old. In fact we are still using the same prefolds for her at 20 months.

We will CD this baby from birth. A good friend of mine gave me all her newborn prefolds but I will have to buy little tiny covers though! Can't wait!

Yes...prefolds and Bummis for a newborn is sooo cute but this time around I plan on getting a few pockets for out and about..hoping for the chance to buy a tiny pink Fuzzibunz or Wonderoo.
On my 13 month old son we used prefolds until 5 months then I started buying other diapers and now use mainly pockets with him or some fitteds with covers. I am holding on my AIO's and rest of my fitteds for this babe.

I am not officially pregnant with a JAn. babe yet, but if I am, we will cd probably with prefolds and dappi pull-ons and wool covers.

Someone was asking about mec. and I used a liner in the dipe until the mec was done. Flush or throw the liner away and you are good to go. I also found that I do not need to rinse the diapers before washing when the babe is breastfed only. Makes life a bit easier.

Also, doesn't meconium not stain? I thought it washed out easily (maybe not).
On the subject of liners, my friend bought some rice paper liners that are reusable for several washes before you throw them away.

I have only used fitteds and pockets wih my dd. To tell you the truth, I am a little afraid of fitteds. I have two, and I can never get them folded right. Are they any easier on a newborn? I have already spent lots of $$ on dd stash and don't want to spend a lot on NB dipes. I would love to use prefolds but am afraid I can't fold them. I have heard a lot of good things about Kissaluvs for NB, but I would much rather spend $2 per diaper vs. $15.
