Who will cloth diaper new babe? - Page 2

Prefolds are EASY to fold (note that I don't have kids, but we have practiced on the one diaper that I made, and washcloths ). Check out fernandfaerie.com They have a section that deals with how to fold the "regular" daipers (I looked at that and have no clue) and the prefolds. After seeing the step by step instructions, folding was a snap !

We will! My DD was cloth diapered from 4 months until a few months ago, when I was hospitalized for my ectopic. When I came home and was strong enough to start doing them again, she refused to wear them And she is going on the potty several times a day now, so we just put them away for the next baby.

I'm planning to use FBs, kissaluvs and preemie prefolds with a few knit soakers and wool covers... I used FCBs, PPs and FMBGs on my DD, but I don't have the time or energy to stalk anymore. So I'm going the simpler route until this babe is old enough to wear big sis's dipes (and they are SO girlie haha).

I intend to cloth diaper and EC. I want to use prefolds and wool soakers. Simple and effective.

I definitely am. Mikah's been CDed since 8 months so I'm so anxious to try it out on a newborn. I've already been buying diapers - even before I found out! I actually got in on the Kissanot sale a few weeks ago so I have a dozen of the size 0s from there as well as a few more odds and ends.

hi

well i cd jason starting when he was 4 months. so i'm still not sure what kind of diapers to use on a newborn. i think i am going to do pf until this baby can wear jason's fuzzibuns. right now i am thinking

4 dozen cheap store brand prefolds and pins
or 4 dozen ubcpf and snappis

plus i want some more wipes
and covers! i have been looking at bummis
and if it is a girl some pink fuzzibuns or fitteds

i already have some cheap prefolds that i use to supplement my fb inserts

ahhhhhhhh...HELP

i was looking at this site ...lmk what you guys think. i figure i don't know how pricey diapers will fit the baby so why not just go with the pf to save money. plus they grow so fast. my mil just showed me how to fold them, and it looks easier than i thought i'm ok with pins since a nb won't be as wiggly...

I plan to buy most of the new baby's stash (Lord willing for us to have this baby for the New Year) and it will consist mostly of pre-fitteds, Very Baby's and Tiny PooPockets. Unless someone comes out with a new pattern!

This will be my third in cloth! I have tried all systems (well, almost). We primarily use fitteds with an Alexis featherlite cover. But I also have some wraps and prefolds and flat diapers too. My family is less likely to complain when they do a change if they have the simple fitteds but they are more expensive which is why I don't have a ton. I just use the prefolds, etc to fill in the gaps if I am behind on laundry. I have a hard time with prefolds on the newborns, but mine grow fast so within a month I am fine with anything. Also, my second child had thighs you wouldn't believe and I was actually concerned that she would grow out of the largest fitted! She didn't, but I did have to buy bummis whisper pull ons instead of Alexis featherlites--she grew too big for the Alexis ones. I liked both brands, the Alexis was priced better. I got the fitted diapers at barefoot baby. They have a website www.barefootbaby.com the fitted were really reasonable there compared to others. As baby got older we added a doubler at night. I also liked using cloth wipes.

I just read some more posts, and thought "people: don't buy the crummy diapers at Target etc." You can get great diaper deals on ebay--especially for the newborn sizes because they don't wear them out!

We will cd this new kiddo. We only switched to cd with dd's a couple of months ago, so I'll definitely have to build my newborn stash, but we'll be good to go in toddler sizes!

Not sure. I have a 3 year old who wears cloth at night, and a 1 year old Ijust stopped Cd'ing with b/c I'm tired of it. I might do it for the first year or so.

I will! Cannot wait! I will be sewing most of my own. I have tons of yellow fleece for pockets, so I won't do too much variety at first.

Can't wait till next summer to have super cute diaper patterns and little t-shirts!

I just ordered some organic velour to "try" but now I'm going to save it all for the new little one Wonder how many newborn cuts I can get from one yard? I also have 2 yards of windpro coming (also wanted to try that) and 4 yards of wool. And I ordered all that before I even knew! So I actually already have plenty of fabric to sew a newborn stash I wash everyday though, so will probably just sew 18 diapers, and buy a dozen infant prefolds for backup (plus they make such great pocket stuffers in bigger dipes)

This will be my first newborn to cd! I cd'd my oldest son for awhile, didn't cd #2 and #3 at all, due to a variety of factors, and have been cding my current one at least part time since May 2004 when he was 5.5-6 mos old.

ETA: everytime we've used a sposie (once we switched) my dh keeps saying, "what is that smell? Did he poop? Oh yuck, that's just the way those smell."

We used Kissaluvs after the meconium was done. They are great little diapers. We also used Fuzzibunz...my favorite, but they are a little too big and cover the umbilical stump. Definitely planning to CD. I love it!

We will! I switched to cloth when dd was 2 and then ds#2 has been in cloth since day 1. Prefolds are my favorite diaper! They are inexpensive, cute, wash well, dry fast, don't have elastic to leave red marks on baby.................I could go on and on!

I have all of the diapers that were ds#2's and I will get a few more just for fun. We use wool exclusively and I knit it all. I have some wool I bought in the smaller sizes before I could knit well. I am working on knitting a bunch of tiny LTK Longies for this new babe.

I ordered a preemie UBIPF with "Born at Home" embroiderd on it! I can't wait to get it. It will be babes first diaper.

Oh, we never had any problems with mec. staining. We didn't use any liners.

Nichole, I bought 24 Newborn size prefolds from Green Mountain Diapers. They are a bit bigger than the preemie and thicker too. I really liked them on ds. I still have them and will use them on new babe.
Natural Babies has great packages too! Natural Babies I usually shop here.
