Tell me your most obnoxious story - Page 3

Wow, its sad that this thread exists, because it means some hurtful and/or misinformed comments are raging out there, but its also cathartic (sp) cuz it helps me see I'm not alone KWIM?

I've got several, but heres 2 doozies that stick out in my mind

1) a WOHM of two called me up one day and asked me to keep her kids M-F while she was at work, since "I wasn't doing anything anyway". I was at a complete loss of words! As a SAHM of 2, I can assure you I am doing something all the time! You'll be happy to know that I declined her

2) a guy at the church we went to before our current one asked me how I was enjoying "my baby vacation". I thought he was joking at first and said I needed a vacation. But he said "oh, I know how you women like to pretend its so much work, so you can get your husbands to pitch in when they get home". He was an older gent, from a different time, but STILL!!!!!! I tried to correct his misinformation, but he was deadset that he was right and wouldn't listen

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday on the phone. We only chat about once every couple months so after the usual, "I've been really busy." from her, I said "I know what you mean, but I've been thinking about you." She replies with "Yeah, but it's easy for you, you're not busy, you get to stay home all day."

Ummm...okay, just because I'm a SAHM, it doesn't mean I'm really home ALL day, duh!

The only comment I've ever gotten that bothered me was when people would tell me how "lucky" I was to be able to stay home. I know, that's dumb of me, but I used to be bothered by that because my husband and I planned our lives around this so carefully so that I could stay home. We waited many years, etc.

Ever since my husband's business went under and he had to start a new one and everything is so up in the air, well, now I realize how lucky I am. Nearly losing this has made me realize that there really is some luck involved.

Anyway, the comment wasn't necessarily an obnoxious one, but my attitude made me feel that it was.
