Does working or going to school PT = SAHM?

If some of you who are taking classes, or just working a couple evenings/week, do you consider yourselves SAHM?

I've been a WOHM and I'll be going from a difficult full-time schedule, to an easy part-time schedule, plus a few all-day classes throughout the summer. I've been talking about how much I'm going to love being a SAHM, but I'm still going to be pretty busy with other non-home stuff.

How do others define these terms?

I'd say, if you're staying at home more than you're working or at school, then you're a sahm. When I worked full time from home with the occational half-day in the office, I still considered myself a sahm, because I spent more time with ds than without him.

I consider Sahming to be my fulltime job and my paying job to be my 2nd job. I work outside the house 22 hours a week (nights and weekends.) But I'm here all day everyday during the week, responsible for the house and kids.

I work outside the home about 7-10 hours a week, evenings and weekends. But I essentially consider myself a SAHM who also works. When it was just DD1, I went to school, at times parttime and fulltime, and I would still say I was a SAHM. Since I am here taking care of the kids all day every day (and of course nights too) and try to schedule work only when DH is home, I figure that is about as SAHM as I get. Don't get me wrong, it ain't always easy.

Often my paying job is easier than my 1st job, IYKWIM.

I'm currently in school FT and consider myself to be a SAHM.

To me a SAHP is someone who is with his or her child during most of the hours that the kid is awake and at home. I have two PT jobs--teaching a class and working as a research associate--but I consider myself to be a SAHM because I'm able to schedule all of my work for when DD is in pre-school or asleep.

I call myself a SAHM, though I'm a student as well. (Just one evening a week, but it's an intensive program that means I have to study a lot during DS's naps, while he plays independently, or while DH spends time with him.)

I have been a pt student this year and consider myself a sahm. My youngest dc is in Kindergarten.

Next year (hopefully) I will be a full time student so I'll be a student mom (not woh) but all of my kiddos will be in school fulltime.

I think there are a lot of us who have blurred the lines. I don't actually "stay home" under any circumstances.

I don't really know what my label is! I'm at home with my kids in the mornings, and some afternoons and evenings.

Teaching violin/viola lessons takes me out of the house about 15 hours a week. Some weeks that is the extent of my work hours. But I also play in two orchestras and play freelance quartet jobs. During my really busy times, I'm sometimes gone 25 extra hours.

Sometimes I'm a mostly SAHM, some weeks I'm a mostly WOHM. I have been able to take my dd with me on some of my long days away, and that really helps.

I do wish I could be more of a SAHM. I don't have as much time/energy for all the fun stuff that I'd like to do with my kids.

I consider myself a WOHM, although I stayed at home half the week this last semester. The main reason for this is because I just cant identify with the SAHMs and their issues, and because I intend to WOHM full time soon.

Going to school is hard work!!!!!!!!!!! And although you may only be in class 9 hours or so a week if you are a part time student, there is so much time that needs to be spent preparing for classes that the time really adds up to at least a part time job.

I think the reality hit that I am in no way a SAHM when I tried to join playgroups (and LLL) that were all SAHMs and I couldnt make it to the dates because I was busy yeah, technically at home, but with 100 pages to read. I just didnt fit in with them, I can realate much better to WOH moms and the issues of childcare, finding time to do all that needs to be done, etc.
