What my *new* pediatrician said

To make a sort of long story short i took DS to the ped the other day and during the examination the doctor checked his diaper. (he had jaundice and the doctor was looking him over completely. I was right there with my hand ready to stop the ped if he tried to retract DS. He said "OH! he isn't circumcised" I said "no he isn't and he never will be" The doctor then said "GOOD! There is absolutely NO reason to do it" DH was there and heard him. I felt soooooooooooo good when the ped said that with DH there. He is also VERY pro-breastfeeding.

Note i said my *NEW* ped. I previously took my kids to another ped. I am switching to the new one now. I went to him because his office was the only one open on Saturday and i was refered to go there for a recheck of my sons bilirubin levels after we left the hospital.

That is great.Did your dh say anything about the peds comment? How have the relatives been about keeping this 2nd child intact? Was your MIL a big player in getting your first son cut?
Anyway, I am glad things are going good for all of you!

that is wonderful! any smart doctor doesn't circumcise. It's unethical and wrong. I'm glad you found a doctor that you like

DH only agreed that had he heard a doctor say that before then he wouldn't have insisted DS be circed.

The majority of our relatives don't know he is intact.....not like it is any of their business. MIL does know nd yes she is pro-circ and she was a big player before. This time she asked DH if we had him circed and DH said no and other than her saying it should be done she hasn't said anything else about it at all.

Yeah for the ped
Congrats to your MIL for only expressing her opinion and not arguing
Yeah for your DH to stay connected in the face of your upset over DS1

Even if the ped is pleased that you didin't circ, make sure they also know about no retraction, even as DS gets older. I have heard froced retraction stories involving doctors who knew that circumcision wasn't necessary but still didn't know proper intact care.

PS My DS was quite juancided too. I was quite worried. We did not use blankets or anything since I didn't know about the jaundice thing until he was 1 week and by that time he was not as yellow. Even at 2 months we had a bilirubin because he was still slightly yellow. He was ok. Hugs momma.
