Cultural Genital Teasing

Thread Starter
In the USA, teenagers commonly tease the females about genital odor, saying often that they 'smell like fish.'

Is this because circumcised males have little of their natural odor left, so women are singled out as being 'smelly' when in reality, the males have simply been robbed of their natural scent? Or, in intact countries, do teenagers pick on both sexes about their odor?

(Pardon my strange threads...I can't sleep tonight and my mind is racing.)

Well, if someone came constantly to school smelling bad, not showering or brushing his/hers teeth, she would be teased sure. But nothing special about genital odor, never ever heard of it. One would think that boys would be glued to girls who smelled...girlie...even the parfyme industry is using this fact when they do parfymes.

Circumcised boys are not teased but felt sorry for. We get our variety of circumcised males, American exchange students or boys who are circumcised for religious reasons(manly muslim refugees since jewish people do not circumcise here). It can be very hard to boys, sometimes pity can be harder to handle than teasing.

Do other countries have products available to men that equate feminine deodorant spray or other genital care products? Is there even a need for them? Could that be why they are not available? Is some corporation missing a big market opportunity? From the rumors here, there appears to be some big bucks on the line that no one is taking. Anyone want to partner with me and become a billionaire? Move over, Bill Gates and Walton family!

Well part of the reason girls are teased and made aware of genital odour is plain old advertising. They want to sell feminine deoderant/douches/odour absorbing menstrul pads, so they create an awareness of "issues" that would not otherwise be an issue. And the US is king of manipulative advertising.
I haven't really heard of anyone teasing over genital odour here (but its been a long time since I was in school)

My dh is from India and don't ask me how, but somehow we were having a topic on this very issue once. :LOL I think after seeing one of those feminine odor commercials. He had never heard of male odor before. He was born/raised in India and the only boys whow are circed are the Muslim boys, who are a minority there. He shared dorms and apartments with other intact men.

I wouldn't say this is common at all. If someone is teased about somethign it may last a while- or run its course and go through a bunch of people.

The point remains that we shouldn't be cutting off normal part's of someone's body for ANY reason.

We are from Chile and I never heard any teasing going on because of smell-

I won't have any problems with my son being teased, if ever, in school. I'll just tell him that his peers were strapped down and tortured at 8 hours of age, while he was loved and held close to my heart in the hospital. And that they are all sexually handicapped now, so the teasing comes from insecurity and future sexual disfunction. I'll also show him a video.. that should do it

Btw-

Just wanted to say that I find it very interesting that they don't sell any douches here in UK at all (I don't know about the rest of the Europe), nobody actually seems to know what a "feminine douche" is!

Dh, who is from Africa (born in malawi, raised in Lesotho and Botswana) says that Americans care WAY too much about odor. I believe it is true. I get very self-conscious about my "feminine" odors and, though I don't use sprays, i wear pads because the smell drives me nuts. DH doesn't even use deodorant, and it isn't noticeable unless he hasn't showered in a couple of days.
