Need help!! Breech baby-can't homebirth until she turns!!

Everyone visualize my beautiful little girl with her sweet head down in my pelvis! I am 36 weeks, and getting ready to homebirth, but I can't until she turns. My midwives are going to try to turn her tomorrow, then I am on my own with tilts, swimming pools, homeopathy, accupuncture, moxa's, chiropractors etc until my scheduled external version at the hospital that I ******REALLY****** don't want to have. I'm scared, even though I know she will turn for me. I tell her all the time she doesn't have to be born right away after she turns, I know she needs time to adjust to the idea, and I understand if she's scared, just as she's never been born, I've never given birth either. Send all your positive energy and love to our little family- we need all the love and visualization we can get! I'm lucky to have 3 midiwives and an amazing doula, not to mention my mother who is wonderful, but I can't do it with out my Mothering mothers!! Thank you!!!!! Love you guys!!
Love,

Lauren

Turn, baby, turn!

I've got a breech, too. I've got more time for her to make up her mind, but if she doesnt' I'll be in your shoes in about ten weeks!

Just a few humble suggestions...

* pelvic rocks can sometimes help the baby go where she needs to

* perhaps a visit to a chiropractor or massage therapist (or both) would help her get where she needs to be by getting you soft and alligned just right

* EFA's help the brain grow, and I have heard it postulated that this could help a baby not be breech by making it's brain heavier so it gets head-down??? Certainly could'nt hurt... FYI flax seed can lower BP signifigantly, so maybe try something else if your BP is low to begin with.

* is there a jacuzzi tub that you could soak in? A warm bath may help get you loose so she can do her flip and get all settled into place.

It sounds like you have a few more things to try before the end of this trip. Something has to work! Or watch, you'll do all this and then right before the hospital version, she'll turn on her own.

Come on, baby, being upside down is cool!!! Turn for mama!!!

My ds Forest was breech at 36 wks. My loving midwife did a very gentle external version on her bed and he turned pretty easily. As soon as we had his head down with a strong heartbeat I got down off the bed and squatted for about 10 minutes. Thankfully he stayed put. I squatted alot to try to engage his head so that he couldn't turn back.
He was born at home w/out any complications.
I hope that your little one gets her head down so you can stay at home!!!

I got my baby to turn at 33 weeks using the Webster technique (chiropractic - has a 90% success rate!) and pulsatilla which is a homeopathic remedy. I took 4 tablets I think it was twice or three times a day for two weeks. Good luck to you, my homebirth will be any day now!

There are a lot of misconceptions about breech babies, and it is sad.

Breech babies can be born just as EASILY and risk FREE as transverse babies. The position of the mother is what matters. Don't be scared into a c-section. There are three types of breech, complete, incomplete, and frank. Complete breech is when both of the baby's knees are bent and his feet and bottom are closest to the birth canal.

Incomplete breech is when one of the baby's knees is bent and his foot and bottom are closest to the birth canal.

Frank breech is when the baby's legs are folded flat up against his head and his bottom is closest to the birth canal.
*If I remember correctly this is the only dangerous position in which to birth vaginally*

Here is some imporrtant info about homebirthing your breech baby:

********sigh of relief********

SHE TURNED LAST NIGHT!!!! Thank you all of you! In CA, our CNM can't deliver at home if baby is breech, so we were getting anxious, as they can deliver at home from 36 weeks. I have a ton of info on turning breech babies if anyone needs it. We massaged her at night, first clockwise, but she didn't like that so we tried counter-clockwise. I think she was trying to turn all week, she certainly squirmed, but last night I popped her feet out of my pelvis after a tilt (gently, by hand), and today when i went to see the midwives, she was head down and engaged!! That explains why I have been tossing and turning all night every night. Now I'm already doing squats and tailor position all the time to keep her engaged. Yelling STAY! doesn't work for very long with my dogs, I assume it won't work well with her, especially since she obviously has a mind of her own anyway. Thank you for all the love and support!! i love my mothering mammas. And Tristan-- I can't wait to see you-- drool and all!!

Love,
A very happy mamma of an upside-down baby girl waiting to be born
Lauren
(who is considering not moving until labor-- jk)

PS Breech babies can be born naturally, and we were going to look into which hospitals would let us, but the midwives can't do it by CA law--- ARGHH
