Wow - some of you are back in pre-preggo clothes, argh, I'm jealous! I got on the scale last week and I had lost about half the weight I gained. Oh well, it will come off eventually. I've taken a few walks and been out of the house a couple times now. I'm spotting on and off again too, but feel really good otherwise. Enjoying this baby moon for another week!

Had her at the birth center. It was wonderful. Okay, so maybe I didn't think so at the time, but I do now. It was very intense. Much more painful than I remember the other two births being. Oh, but so very worth it.

SOmehow even when he's drowsy, he knows when I sit here, and gets very fussy. Otherwise, he's a very content babe, already smiling some the past two days!
Still bleeding at 26 days. Also, I'm not sure my tear is healing completely closed -yikes! Anyone know about this?
Sunbaby - know what you mean about being in the nicu, I feel like it permanently threw me off my routine, and we were only there for 4 1/2 days. Evan won't sleep well unless in the sling either. So glad both our boys are home and well.

liawbh -- i read somewhere, probably on this board somewhere :LOL , that it's normal to bleed somewhere between 4 and 8 weeks. i've still had some occasional spotting if i overdo it. i'm 6 weeks postpartum and went on a strenuous walk last week carrying dd2 in the bjorn up some steep hills in our neighborhood. i got home and had a little spotting that went away as fast as it came. i think it's normal and was my body telling me, "hey. don't do that yet."

Things are settling down here..sort of..we are in the process of job hunting..agggh, but otherwise things are going better. I think Eileen is finally getting over her cold. I can't believ she will be six weeks tomorrow! Where does the time go?! She is definetly bigger and chunkier than ds was. She's a bit moodier than him also but is really becoming herself and when she's happy she coos and smiles. Her big brother adores her and in the mornings they spend a half hour just talking and staring at each other while I look on and get a little more rest. ..gotta go ds calling me..more later!

Hi, mamas!

Just checking in and seeing that I have some birth stories to catch up on, esp. those NICU babies!

As far as weight loss . . .I own no scale, but I don't fit into my clothes AT ALL. How the heck did my hips get so huge? They were never small to begin with but geeze. On the plus side, I don't "feel" fat yet since my clothes are way too small , so does that mean I was thin to begin with? :LOL Well, with Fiona it took about a YEAR to lose all the weight so I think I have a long "weigh" to go.

I'm still bleeding and Moira is 5 weeks old. I bled until 8 weeks with Fiona, though, so . . .

Breastfeeding is still Three lactation consultants and a lot of money spent on various pieces of BF gear has been draining, emotionally, physically, and financially. Things are better, but far from being settled. Every day is still a rollercoaster. It has really impacted us all-- I spend so much time on this issue that Fiona has really been neglected. It's not at all how I imagined these first weeks being, but then again, I feel I must really count my blessings that I have 2 daughtera who are alive and healthy. It's something never to be taken for granted.

anyone up for a june thread under life with a babe? since we'll all delivered now

this weekend my DH and i are celebrating our anniversary, it's tomorrow but we're going to go out saturday night. my mom is going to watch the older girls over night . we'll take the babe with us. we are having issues with her not wanting to nurse in public, in the sling, under my shirt, whatever the case may be. we took her to dinner and a movie a couple weeks ago and she refused to nurse, so she was pretty much awake the entire movie LOL. oh well......

i'm having a lot of emotional issues lately. short temper and i get super sad really fast. with three kids at home i don't get a lot of time to work on our house, which really needs it. all of our boxes are unpacked, but we have piles and totes, and bag everywhere. there are lots of projects we need to complete, and just not enough time to do most of them. plus, i'm trying to make friends and that's not easy either with three small kids.

i hosted a babywearing gathering and that was a lot of fun i met a lot of nice people there . julianna is getting bigger and bigger every day. my girls love her to death and she fits in oh so well!!! right now we have baby acne, that i can't wait to go away. i want to get professional pictures done on friday of next week and i don't want all of those little red dots all over her face in the pictures LOL.

Had my 6 week appointment yesterday, where did the time go!!? I'm about 5 pounds over my prepreg weight and would like to stay here (I know, sorry, I'm actually trying to KEEP weight on). Eileen is finally over her cold and things are going smoother sleep wise. She is such an expressive baby and its really nice because she LOVES the sling. Its a blessing to be able to pop her in there and get stuff done or go for walks or play with Jack. Anyway hope all the nicu babes are getting big and healthy and the mamas are getting some rest. just read your post danaalex, I totally understand your emotional thing. I'm the same way and there is a lot of upheavel in our life right now with dh's job. I'm better than I was (read some of my previous posts, ugh!) but we're looking at a possible move in the next couple months (and we Just moved here 10 months ago). So not looking forward (or have the energy) for that. Anwyay hugs to you, have fun with your husband this weekend and congrats on the anniversary! And DON"T WORRY ABOUT THE HOUSE

Sorry for the nursing issues. We're there right now, too. I had a great supply, got some sinus headaches that turned into migraines. I took some meds and my supply is greatly decreased. I'm so sad and so mad at myself. Working on bringing it up. I wish I could go back and do it again. *sigh*

My emotional issues are fine, but I'm still taking zoloft, so that's probably it. Otherwise I might feel quite overwhelmed. Danaalex, sorry you are going through that. I hope it gets better soon.

Madalyn and I went in for a check up yesterday. Madalyn is 8 lbs 7 oz, up from 8 4 on Sunday. And me, well, I weighed on Tiesday before she was born. I was 1.5 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight. I am now 21.5 lbs UNDER my pre-pregnancy weight. 5 days after she was born!!! I'm exstatic since I am very overweight. And hoping to keep it up!

Hey everyone :-)

I'm having some nursing issues too- he wants to eat all the time and i'm just plain hurting. We're having some latching issues. With the surgery it's been hard to get into a comfy position and managing a squirmy baby who likes to suck his fist while trying to wrangle a pair of 36 Js has been a challenge. I have a Medela breast pump and I HATE IT!!! I can hand express faster! I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, if anything. It took a half hour to get TWO OUNCES! : I'm trying to build up a stockpile but good grief it's slow going. Anyone have a Medela and can give me some advice?

Jake got a bath tonight. He was cold w/o his clothes and started screeeeeeaming but once I ran the water over him, he enjoyed it.

Sleep has been a fun around the clock kind of adventure. The kind of fun that's not. Last night he was awake from 11pm - 3:30 am. I can't predict any kind of wake/sleep schedule like "awake for 3 hours asleep for 3 hours" cuz it's changed every night.

I'm gonna stop babbling on and go for a while, try to catch a nap while he's napping.

Glad to see this thread- glad all our babies are here and healthy. We are doing well here- i think ds has a blocked tear duct, we are still trying to stay off the paci- thanks so much to those who recommended an upside down pinkie!

i cry once a day at least- country music videos, memories, missing family, just about anything can do it- especailly exhaustion around 10 at night. luckily i am able to keep plugging through and i get past it. i know it isn't that easy for everone. this experience is a lot more isolating than i expected. thank goodness for the internet.

i keep finding new dirty spots on my boy- today i noticed the gook in his ears and cleaned those. we are taking about a bath per week- is that enough?

learned the kangaroo hold yesterday in the hotsling and we are both loving it! i was so upset when he didn't like the cradle hold- i was going to die without the sling!

we have an appt next week (at 8 wks) with the family doc so we will see how much this big boy weighs now- he was born 6.1. and feels HUGE now!

Love that Mothers milk tea. Drank two double glasses of it yesterday and sometimes at night I could hear Madalyn swallowing again, I started leaking again. All seems to be fine now.

Joy, Madalyn had a clogged tear duct earlier this week. I was a bit worried as dd1 had one for over 18 months. We almost had surgery for it. My midwife told me to treat both eyes at once for Madalyn. Even if it was only in one eye. Hers was so bad that 20 minutes after I cleaned it, it was all stuck together again. She told me to get two warm wet cotton balls. To wipe out the eye from the inside cornor to the outside. Then to massage the duct. Then put breastmilk in her eyes. We did this once, Wed night and haven't had even clear liquid since. I really reccomend it.

Boof,which Medela pump do you have? Yesterday I bought the Medela Pump in Style Advanced but have not opened the box yet, was waiting to have some less hectic time this weekend to try it out. I had checked them out at the local Baby superstore, but yesterday went to the Lactation Center affiliated with the hospital and boy am I glad I did. They were so helpful in answering all my questions, were able to give a demo of the product (using a balloon :LOL ) and even checked Julie's latch and made some suggestions for better positioning, which has already helped my poor sore nipples.
They get the big from me for service and support. They even have a place to weigh your babe and a room where you can nurse, so you can weigh - nurse - weigh if you want to! ALL FREE! They do have LCs available for more indepth consultation for $75 which seems pretty reasonable to me.

Battled some clogged ducts over the last few days, but think I got them tackled with a combination of heat and massage. The wet disposable diaper trick is awesome thanks to someone over on the breastfeeding board for that one. Could clogged ducts be related to me having a slight cold and sore throat? Both seemed to arrive at the same time on Tuesday night.

Gotta go change a poopy diaper...
