Yeah, did you mention the fact that she threw stuff at you? That's enough to get her fired no matter what she said.

I don't post much here but I just had to say I am so sorry you were treated that way. Your photos are beautiful. I have to also say that I have had several breastfeeding photos printed at Walmart and never had that problem. Hopefully I never will because I think I would have just lost it. Please keep us updated.

You know, it really is time to make a concerted effort to bring Walmart in line with breastfeeding.

Did a quick check of my area, and bf photos will get the police, if not also DCF, summoned if you try to have them developed in these chain stores:

Wal-Mart {not shocked}
Meijer {knew that one, but wanted to be sure it was still accurate}
CVS
Kroger
Garnet Photo Supply
Photo Service Express

Digital camera, good printer and tons of photo ink are calling my name. Any really awesome, non-expensive digi cams out there that can shoot in B & W?
On what grounds?!?!?!

Did you call them and ask?

This story just enrages me. Someone I know and her boyfriend got plastered at a wedding, snuck into a side room and shot a roll of photos of his d**k with the throwaway camera the poor bride put on the table. They brought the film to WalMart and it was developed, so the standards on the definition of porno are obviously not across the board.

We shouldn't have to be forced to go digital for breastfeeding photos! We are not perverted freaks who need to hide the evidence! I am inspired to finish the roll currently on the camera by instructing my husband to take shots of me nursing.

And people complain that police resources are overextended :

Seriously?! Did you call and ask and they expressly told you that they would call the police and DCFS? Only of an older child or of any child? (I mean I don't see what it matters, but how on earth could they consider breastfeeding a newborn a child protection issue?)
What the hell is wrong with people?

This got me too, because, according to "one Hour Photo" with Robin Williams, they're cool with amateur porn (yeah, Iknow, great resource ). BUT, BF includes an adult and a MINOR CHILD. Therefore, child pornograpy. So, the WalMart would have been more "accurate" to say she would not return the photos because it was "child pornography." Now, obviously I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS, but that is what I thnk was going through the employee's misquided brain.

I am glad that the manager was cordial to you. You are very polite to not mention her general rude behavior (throwing things) that alone should call for some sort of suspension or something.

Ok what I don't understand is ..... if you are in a state where it is perfectly protected and legal to breastfeed a child then shouldn't you also be able to have photo's printed of that legal activity?

ex: sitting with my husband at a picnic eating is legal right? We can have pictures taken of that....so if my child is eating with us then that is wrong to print?
I wondered that myself Sarah.

OP--- ditto on the beautiful comments!

What state are you in?

WTG, Mama (and your friend), for talking with the manager about this... it's the only way to get things done!

What about the store's policy on employees telling customers how to parent?

If they say they have a policy about no bf photos, ask to see it. Most places who harrass NIP moms say it's about policy, but then cannot produce an actual written policy.

First, I can't believe you had to deal with that. How awful! You handled yourself well. Those types of situations are what bring out my truest Scorpio self.

Second, I hate to say this but...*I'm* not satisfied with the update. : That woman was out of control. She was making strong accusations and discrimminating against you! To top it off she said some nasty things and *threw* things at you. This is very serious IMO. I cannot for the life of me see how someone can keep a job after behaving so unprofessionally. She was also threatening your right to breastfeed. This is SO unacceptable to me (all of it). I think the manager (or whoever you talked to) is being a little too lax w/this. He needs to work faster and harder to get this resolved. He needs to let you know what he has done about this woman and how he is going to make it up to you (the way you were treated as a customer). I would call LLL too. Since he can't seem to find out the bfing and legal info, they can.

Thank you! This is what I've been thinking while reading the whole thread.

Please do tell us what state you are in Wiliam's mom.

I said and I really was trying to be nice, “I’m not trying to get you fired. In fact, I’ll be happy to explain every bit of this to your manager.”

...

She threw the photos at me and then threw several things around the photo lab.
well, you certainly ar enicer than i would have been. if my photos had been thrown by someone who was being that rude, i would be doing my best to get her fired- or at least some training that she had to pass as to how not to demean your customer and a basic course to leanr why human milk is what babies who can be should be bf.

Beautiful doesn't even begin to convey what those photos express. You and your DH Are good!

I wonder what that manager will do when that employee assaults another customer?

What do you all think??????????????

(Oh, and by the way, this was WalMart.)
Hi again, once more i have not read every post but i would say we all take photos of us breastfeeding and all go on one day and get the developed when that lady is working. hehe

I dont think its walmart policy, i have had pictures of me bf developed at both walmart.com (and i think then they are developed at the store as well but i donno) and at walmart and never had so much as an eyebrow raised. my dh was even showing them off to people there. *shrug* i think it was just a mean lady!

but then again i found this
Mothers sue walmart

Walmart sabotaging breastfeeding

I don't think you should make a blanket statement like that. I have gotten breastfeeding photos developed at Wal-Mart and CVS.

BTW, I no longer shop at Wal-Mart, but that's another story all together
