Yeah, I don't like that episode either. I kept saying, "Get a freaking breast pump!" Actually, a couple of episodes later, they have a pump. (Paul uses it to 'vacuum' the dog. ) Maybe the experience was supposed to have convinced them they needed one. And at least bfing continued to be mentioned after that episode, so Mabel wasn't weaned at that point. But the bfing episode was very annoying.

(Especially the scene where Jamie comes home to find that Paul's giving the baby a bottle of formula in desperation. I was okay with her not being mad at him, since she did leave him home with no pumped milk, and she was significantly late. She did put him between a rock and a screaming baby. But the idea that she would say, "No, honey, keep feeding her even though I'm home now," seemed a little unrealistic. When ds was that little and I came home after leaving him with dh and ebm, I wanted to nurse right away because I was hugely full!)

(I have "breastfeed" as a TiVo keyword) The message seemed to be, "formula is OK, it helps daddy bond, and nutritionally it's fine once the baby is a few months old." I think the baby was supposed to be 3 or 4 months, and at the end she had her first formula bottle (mom was running late getting home), and it was portrayed as a beautiful daddy/baby bonding moment, and a perfectly natural, healthy stage of develpoment.

Obviously, she did this show long before she had kids of her own, but it is still in reruns, of course.

Anyone else see it?
Uhg! I have seen it, and it is terrible!! I think Paul even says to her "you know they say the bottle is just as good as the breast" and jamie agrees with him! Awful, awful awful

But at least we all know in real life Helen Hunt does NOT feel that way from her great interview with Letterman.

(you like the way I just tried to bring this thread back to the original topic there, huh huh huh?)

I remember the breastfeeding show when it first aired. I remember thinking "What's the big freaking deal?? Feed the darn baby!" Now I'm mortified that I once thought formula was just as good as breastmilk and that it was no big deal. My how I have changed!

Yeah... she was mad a lot on that show. However, one of my favorite 'mad' moments was Jamie coming out of the bathroom with a roll of toilet paper in one hand and the holder for it in the other. She gets Paul's attention, inserts the TP onto the holder, and then storms back into the bathroom. :LOL I've thought of re-creating the scene with my own husband a time or two... do they just not know how to take the old one off or what?

And, my best friend still quotes the Jamie line "I'm not being judgmental, you're just WRONG!" at me when I really get going on one of my 'issues'... : :LOL
