WOHMs Who BF and Pump...

Just wanted to take a minute to give you a great big round of applause for all that you do to give your baby breast milk

I recognize that it is no picnic for you and you deserve some real recognition for the sacrifices you make. Just wanted to say that.

Aw, shucks!

I WOH and pump, but I know I've got it easier than other mamas do. My employer is fairly flexible, so I can take breaks at different times, and I have a private place to do it.

Now, if we could just one of those posh "lactation rooms" I hear about, that'd rock!

Thanks!

Only 18 more days! I am a teacher, and the countdown has begun! I have a really good situation since I have an assistant in my classroom, so I can pump whenever I need to.
BTW, I created my own "lactation room" in the corner of my classroom by pushing 2 huge cabinets to make an L shape around the corner and I put up a little curtain. I don't even have to leave my classroom (if I did, I'd have to use the bathrooms since space is limited at my school).

to all the mamas who have persevered even without a supportive enviornment!

Thanks!!!! 22 months and counting!!!

Thank you! On my third baby doing this, too. Thank goodness I only work three days/week. On the bright side, I get to catch up on The New Yorker when I pump, a luxury that's hard to concentrate on with three children 5 and under.

Wow, great to see a thread like this! Thanks!

Wow, thanks for the compliment!
We're almost 13months and still going strong!

(I must say that I only work 2 sometimes 3 days a week, right down the street and if I don't feel like pumping, sometimes I can talk my DH into bringing my girl in!) :

Congrats to those full time woh moms who go that extra mile for their bebes!

That was me with my last babe - and I still thought it was tough! This time I get to stay home full time so I have it easy.

At the last LLL meeting there were a couple women there that were getting ready to go back to work full time so we were discussing pumping, supply issues, sleeping, etc. etc. and it just really struck me when I was leaving that there is so much that goes into continuing to BF for working mothers - it's really wonderful when someone goes the extra mile like that.

this is a great thread to read! i'm not currently in this situation, but I pumped for 18 months with my son, and 12 months with my daughter, until I was laid off last year. Thankfully, I'm going to be able to stay home with #3!

Gee, thanks!
I'm done pumping now (stopped around 15 mos) but my dd will be 2 in 2 weeks and is still happily nursing around my work schedule.
I pumped for all 4 for anywhere from 11 mos to 15 mos, in situations ranging from high school (when I was a student) to my last baby where I had my own office and the ability to set my own schedule however I wanted it. It wasn't always easy, but it was always worth it. Now that my very last nursling is almost 2, I think I may never pump again in my whole life. I used to fantasize about that back in the days of lugging a pump all over the place, but now it's a little sad to think of it.

I only did it for 2.5 months, but my oh my is it hard. I am totally in awe of women who do it for months on end with multiple children!

Yeah, totally! I only did it for a couple months too, but wow it is hard. Most people just don't get it either. You mamas rock!!!

I want to add my bowing admiration to wohm's who pump. It is SO hard. I remember getting home right after giving ds a nurse at daycare and only having time to take a quick pee before I had to strap on the milking gear. My mom would walk by be and JUST DIE LAUGHING. Those double pump industrial models are anything but subtle and domestic looking.
