Why being PG in the summer will be fun

Ok, since we've got a pain of the week, I wanted to start a positive thread.
Even if you see your reason listed, list it again!!

I will love being pg this summer because,

-when I get into ds's wading pool and lay down, everyone will understand
-great excuse to spend the $2.00 a day and go to the pool!
-I don't have to wear any shoes that I have to tie anymore!
-if I want to walk around the house in my bra and underware, dh won't ask why. (nor will he complain!)

Ok, I know I have more, but I just wanted to get a few started! So, lets hear em!!

Nice thread, Amanda! I've been getting lots of sympathetic "you'll be huge in the heat" comments, but I'm not too worried about being pregnant inthe summer. I agree with your reasoning.

-Great excuse to get a pool pass and go to the pool everyday.
-No socks or shoes that tie-I love sandal/slide on weather.
-Lots of fun, water-related outdoor activities to keep ds occupied and happy.
-I've got a bunch of cute, summery maternity clothes from a friend in LA that I look forward to wearing.
-I can treat myself to plenty of fresh squeezed lemonade-yum!

-I can wear sleaveless long flowing dresses and everyone will think its because I am hot when really they are just soooo much more comfy than shorts and a tshirt.

-I don't have to worry about being slim and trim when I go to public pools!

-I can keep the a/c at whatever I want

-Dh will run out to get me something cold and sweet whenever I want!

--ice cream whenever and how ever much i want
--being able to ask for a seat in a restaurant by an air conditioning vent and actually getting it

I'm always hot when I'm pregnant so it'll be great to wear very little clothing and have a good excuse!
Also, it gives me a valid excuse to crash at friend's pools a lot without seeming like a moocher.
Plus, I just love summer!!

-Fat ankles look way better in flipflops/thongs than stuffed into shoes.
-daily ice cream and slurpees won't be seen as odd
-no ice/snow related slip and fall hazards (OK, i'm reaching now)...

at first i was asking myself, "what were we thinking" about getting pregnant and being at my biggest mid summer. then i went shopping! and i found the cutest outfits for summer. i can't wait.

and i can put the a/c at whatever i want

and i can walk around in my underwear (in the house)

i can drink slurpees

i don't have to wear shoes, i hate shoes. i attribute it to being born in hawaii! but dh just rolls his eyes at this one!

i actually found a really cute bathing suit, like a minidress. it really it cute!

This is my 3rd summer pregnancy, so I'm a pro at this and I love it! I do not like being cold, I love the heat!

Flowing cool summer dresses
strappy sandals
I will live in my pool w/ my dds & dh will bring us cool drinks & meals!
I can cook outdoors most days & don't have to deal with the smell of food inside my home for the rest of the evening
I'm having my shower outside by the pool
I can go for long walks in the evening w/ my family after the bugs have gone to bed.

Fresh air without being cold!

*because a sarong and tank top is the ultimate maternity wear, and great to labor in!

*because I can show off my 'toenail painting while hugely preggo' skills (it's my prenatal workout!)

*because flipflops are great for feet that ache

*because I love to bbq, and reduce kitchen prep/cleanup

*because I can throw the kidlets outside instead of trying to fashion some super educational and messy craft

*because RRL tea goes down better iced

1. Wider variety of fresh produce, especially fruit
2. Iced pregnancy tea
3. No "how do I look in this swimsuit" issue
4. Bare feet

As you can see from my sig I don't mind being pregnant in the summer

- Maternity wardrobe is cheaper, no jacket needed, etc

- Able to be more active and stay in shape. Walking and going to the beach (I live 2 blocks from the beach)

- When my babe arrives we can go for nice walks with the stroller

1. Sundresses & generally cute and airy maternity clothes.
2. I LOVE my adorable swimsuit tankinis & can't wait to wear them!
3. Great excuse to mooch off friends w/ pools, or plan coastal get aways.
4. Wonderful fruits & vegetables from the farmers' market. Yum.....
5. It's a slow & lazy time down south, which is about where I'm at anyway.

Yay! I'm so glad to finally hear "it's great to be pg in Summer" instead of something negative! : Michelle already said it, and I so agree: wearing a bathing suit is fun with a baby in my tummy!!! And something great for this particular summer is the long tank tops that J.Crew and the others have out this season. They perfectly cover the maternity panel!! -Jude

No need to be self concious in shorts or sundresses.
Getting to wear sandals and slip ons
Going to the park and the waterpark instead of being stuck inside.
Getting to wear dorky sunvisors and big sunglasses and pretending you are at the height of fashion... just like your kids! :LOL
Outdoor BBQing and kicking back in your in-laws outdoor swing chair without your dh complaining that it is your turn to chase the kiddos.

I think that I all I can think of on short notice.

-For the first time in my life I won't feel like I have to suck in my stomach.
-Total justification for paying for a pedicure.
-Taking a walk at the mall when it's 95 is a good excuse to shop and exercise.
-I can do all my shopping at the farmer's market instead of eating winter watermelon like I did with ds-eww.
-Going to the pool everyday
-Hanging out in the pool with ds is easier than pulling him up hills in a sled.
-Sandals, tanks and skirts. No bulky layers.
-The fresh fruits and veggies will help keep me away from cakes and cookies.
-Our summer schedule is very laid back. I can relax and enjoy myself.

Rock on!! I'm thinking of looking at sundresses while i"m out today running my errands. Dh loves me in a dress, and I look pretty cute PG, so why not!!
What a great thread :LOL I'm still pretty self-conscious about how my thighs looking in a bathing suit or shorts, but our pool is in our fenced in yard, so no one will be able to see in anyway!

And the main reason I don't mind so much being pregnant in the summer is because the LAST time I was pregnant in the summer, I was walking a total of 2 miles a day in my commute to and from work in New York City, and starting in July, that was a real nightmare. This time I'm working from home full-time, woohoo! I wonder if I can hook up a poolside Internet connection somehow...

Just look out for those poolside slip and fall hazards ladies!

- Actually looking pregnant in less clothes and not just huge, like I would if I had to stuff myself in a sweater and jeans.

- Getting nice and tan the natural way...by being in the sun, instead of being tempted to go tanning during those pasty white winter months! (not that I would, but it would be tempting...)

- Longer daylight hours so my 7:00 - 9:30 PM Bradley class doesn't seem so long!

Now I just have to figure out how to not have the Baby blues and the winter blues at the same time...but that's a whole nuther thread!
Oh good thread!

1. Popscicles!!
2. YES preg tea tastes better iced
3. Floating in a pool to relieve the aches
4. When baby is born it won't have to be so bundled (less laundry )
5. No shoes
